I try not to come across as some "akshully" neckbeard so I just assume everyone by this point is at least aware of DDP and its basic relationship to SMB2USA. We haven't even gotten to the typical point in SMB2 threads where someone claims Miyamoto created DDP and I have to point out the way that misconception arises from someone, somewhere at some time misreading an article in (iirc) Wired magazine.

I'm actually pretty happy the way this particular SMB2 thread is more about the characters and the contribution I'm trying to make to the thread is suggesting if players really want to be forced to become familiar with all four characters, they should actually check out DDP and try to get the "real" ending.

I've always preferred Toad. He's one fast motherfucker, especially when he's carrying an object. His jump height and maneuvering feel more restricted than other characters, but the game is piss easy regardless.

Speedrunning is not normal play. This is not a game in which normal play can be competitive without an awkward addition of rules that must be enforced manually by players.

Princess is best for people who have trouble aiming jumps, Toad is best for people who appreciate the feeling of getting rapid feedback from their commands, and Luigi is best for a tiny group of niche-within-a-niche hobbyists.
