Alright, who's got some ROMs uploaded for use with this bad-boy?
This is considered desirable?
>>3051690
cool story brah
>>3051690
pretty impressive
I'd love to see how this turns out
>>3051690
Looks interesting, can't say I would prefer it to the real look but pretty cool. I hope this goes somewhere.
I thought LCD screens looked bad.
>>3051734
On that note, if anyone wants to see 3D NES done right, google the voxel engine for FCEUX.
>>3051690
i dunno, that whole procedural voxel look, looks kinda weird.
that dud should have tried what the 3d unity GBA emu is doing and using model replacement techniques (at least thats what he claims).
so you can make your own 3d models and use them for some HD remixes of games.

You do realize every game in this video was hacked to work with this thing, right? You can't algorithmically set depth like they did in many instances.
Lame.
>>3051750
You do realize you can try it for yourself right now and see how much of a faggot you are, right?
>>3051736
I can't seem to find a download for it anywhere, so you're a faggot.
>>3051778
I'll beat your ass for replying to me.
>>3051748
But that's not retro.
>>3051778
You told me to googl the voxel engine for fceux.
I found 0 downloads.
thus, you're a faggot.
>>3051795
hey FUCK YOU NIGGA.
reminds me of a project i started back in high school and regret never going further into. pic related.
>>3051756
>faggot you are, right
Thanks, I know I am. :^)
>>3051813
looks pretty comfy if you ask me
>>3051813
That looks cool as fuck
But also I just love the fact that you mixed Castlevania with Gradius. Amazing.
>>3051690
This is old as fuck.
I wonder what pathetic news outlet found it just now to warrant it being posted everywhere.
>>3051690
Wow this is really great. Impressed as fuck.
>>3051813
that is cool anon.
How about some Game Boy games?
>>3051813
Id love to see this come to fruition.
i wanted it to have gameplay like einhander but i couldn't figure out how i would do collision detection with the whole "two planes" background/foreground movement thing back then, so i dropped it.
>>3052361
I would pay to see thus happen
>All I want from VR emulation is a bedroom emulation
>You put on the headset and you are sitting on a bed/chair
>There is a TV a few feet away
>You can look around the room
>Selecting roms puts the relevant cart in the system and turns it on
>>3051690
Reminds me of this old emu spec256, where they added 256 colors to the colorized-but-1bit Sinclair Spectrum.
It runs 8 simultaneous copies of the game, but each emulation of the game has its graphics modified so that when summed together, you get 8bit pixels.
>>3052423
cancer faggot cant even read timestamps
>>3052361
>one giant over-the-top mashup of NES classics
I really wish people would stop saying "mashup" like it's a real word that has anything to do with videogames.
This shit struggles to run, it would work better as real life dioramas made with legos
>>3052917
it has a pretty clear meaning to me, I dunno
>>3052917
mashup is a word faglordfor the record faglord isn't though
My only issue with this is... What does this add to any of the games?
Are they trying to appeal old games to young people? No graphic enhancements will stop people from ragequitting contra or ghosts'n goblins.
>>3052567
This is really interesting. The backgrounds look really good.
>>3054916
Bro coders do things for the hell of it because its interesting.
>>3054932
Sure, then it's just a novelty thing that doesn't really mean anything, right? If for the curiosity of it, sure, why not? Tetris, Klax, Arkanoid, Lode Runner and any "blocky" game would look interesting in this. But I probably wouldn't play it in that style for long.
>>3054950
I like it because it gives me LSD flashbacks.
>>3051690
childhood;ruined
>>3052412
From a programming point of view, you have standard x y collision detection but then if that detects a collide it runs a separate check for both being on layer 1 or layer 2
>>3051795
it's called fce3d and is Linux only.
>>3051750
But you can, read up on the NES sprite layers.
>>3051813
Fund it.
>>3052917
Oh yeah? What's a better word for it, huh?
>>3054950
It's not meant to be played--just like how playable games in MAME are just a nice side-effect of the software's intent, bruh.
>>3051690
Looks fucking terrible and it's technologically trivial to turn the emulator's render surface into a height map. Outside of a handful of games that work by random chance, you won't get good results.
>>3055675
>custom color-to-height map for each game
Problem solved.
