Terranigma

Doubt it. Late release SNES RPG with a trilogy that already wasn't that popular as a whole.

Even now I don't have much of an incentive to give it a try.

I'm from germany and I had that game back then (still have that exact cardridge) and I didn't even know it was a trilogy until 2012.

I'm American and I was like 5 when Gaia came out. I remember not beating that game when I was playing with some buddy a few years later. Was probably 1997 or 96.

Never knew there was Soul Blazer till later either.

The worst thing is, I actually owned Illusion of Gaia (It's called Illusion of Time in germany for some reason) and Terranima and I still didn't know they were connected in some way.

Also I've never beaten Illusion of Gaia. As a child I was stuck in that vampire battle. That shit was hard.

Well, if you go by the ending, you can loosely call the game an illusion of time.

I've played Illusion of Gaia on an emulator. It was a fun game, but you couldn't play as the best character until the end.

Isn't Terranigma a cult-classic already? Generally overlooked, but it has a nice fanbase and it's among the first titles mentioned whenever people ask about great but overlooked SNES games.
A US release would have given it more exposure, but maybe it wouldn't have been as well-liked in America as it was in Europe. It's a very unique game, and people in different places have different tastes.

I'm from Spain, and I remember I bought Terranigma precisely because I was told it was connected to Illusion of Time, and I loved Illusion of Time. I had no idea Soul Blazer existed until five years later.

I know at least one guy who would have been obsessed with it. Back when IoG was released, it came with a free Tshirt. That guy actually wore it. Not ironically, but with complete adoration for a piece of media.

Last I saw him, in like 2002 or so, he was still wearing that Tshirt.

Awesome guy, really. The fact that he wore that shirt makes him sound like a weenie, but he wasn't at all. Muscled/sporty. Friendly to a fault, but didn't take shit from anybody. Would break the world in half if it meant helping a friend. Just an all around awesome guy, like an IRL Good Guy Greg.

I'm as gay as a Luis Vuitton bag full of glitter and rainbows and if he was interested in dudes at all, we so would have dated.

Anyway, he would have been completely obsess with Terranigma. When last I saw him, I didn't have the chance to ask him about Terranigma because it was just so good to see him and catch up, even if it was just for a few minutes.

It is a cult classic already. I loved soul blazer and illusion of Gaia as well, although they are required to play through. Terranigma made me cry when I was a kid.
