Made this last night with Bob Ross in the background after watching someone do it on Youtube. Anybody else have fun with Mario Paint?

Is that a bomb going off in the background?

Still looks pretty cool anon
>>
>>3022110
That's pretty good, anon.

Back in the day I used to connect my SNES to my VCR and use the animation editor to make short scenes. Like, make a picture, add an animation, record, alter the picture, make another animation, record, and so on.
I didn't have a computer so it was the closest thing to an animation tool I had, pity I lost the tapes to time.
>>
I have a tumblr where I irregularly post artwork done in Mario Paint via direct capture from SNES. My setup is kind of fucked right now and I'm waiting to see if I can get pictures posted that are captured from a SCART / RGB source rather than S-video, so hopefully I can get that figured out and start posting pics again.

Thanks. It's a good exercise to try and draw almost anything in Mario Paint, because of the limitations of the software and the mouse really force you to be resourceful with solving visual problems as you draw in it. It's fun to figure out tricks that the developers might not have even thought of as a solution.

Yeah, it was supposed to be a sunset. Key word: Supposed. Instead, I created a nuclear winter.

This is all really impressive stuff. Well done guys.

That's either a sunset over snowy pine trees or the forest is on fire in the middle of winter. Either is comfy I suppose.

The wonders of Bob Ross. Even if you're bad at it, things do sort of come out in a nice way.

This one didn't come out all that well, though it has a weird sort of Yoshi's Island feel to it.
>>
>>3026718
>It has a weird sort of Yoshi's Island feel to it.

It actually does when I am looking at it. It's hard to believe stuff like this is possible to make on something like Mario Paint. Then again, I have had more experience with MS Paint back in the day even though I had a SNES.
>>
>>3026718
Sky's too bright, I think, but it's not like you have much of a palette to work with. The other blue might still have been better. Clouds/mist looks a bit too flat.
That said, the airbrush style is working well for these pics

Yeah, the airbrush is a really important tool if you want to reproduce what Bob does in his videos. It's the closest thing to the criss-cross and highlighting he loves to do.

Also, in this picture, I realize that I can't do buildings.

God damn. I've never heard this track before, for some reason. It's really amazing. Makes me think of "You've Come Far, Ness", and that's great.

Also, here's the last picture I made, another case study for "I can't do buildings at all".

>>3022110

I am not really skilled at drawing, and I would rather use a tablet. If I ever made something in Mario Paint it would have to be a big pixel-art composite made from lots of stamps. Could be cool though. I think the Mario Paint player's guide (I bought a copy of this back in the day; don't have it with me though or I'd maybe photograph some pages) gave an example like that, where they built a big cool castle or something out of stamps.

As a kid I made a reproduction of a Zelda dungeon room once. It was pretty accurate, but also kinda dumb because that's just copying, not really drawing or creating. But kids can feel fulfilled with such things. Same as how I used to like grinding in JRPGs, and now can't tolerate it.

Oh well here goes nothing. I don't want to upload a live one until there's content. Oh and the rollercoaster is a seamlessly looping video with a lot less compression than this jpg.
>>
>>3043827
That does look like classic old school web. Be sure to put it live soon. Remember that part of the old school is that your site is never finished, but a perpetual construction site (don't forget the animated bulldozer). So put it live sooner than later, and work out the content in production.
>>
>>3043867
Under construction is part of the joke but having empty page sucks, ironic humor or not. I want to have something in each one first, finishing the layout is minimum requirement at this point.

I was going through the Neocities directory because it's comfy, and you would be surprised at how many 4chan users you can spot on there. Some ytmnd meme pages, some honest and personal pages with 4chan in their hobbies too.

That Lain site is rad. Its also a great free host with full customization. I like your design very /vr/.

Was the intro to this song made in Mario Paint?

Not sure about the organ sounds, but I think the dog bark and the baby laughter kind of sound like the ones in MP.

sounds like it. or it could be a common sample library on keyboards.
>>

I take it mp4 is not an allowed format? What about webm? If they didn't want people using it as a file host dump, I'm okay with a file size limit on videos.

I want to learn how to use it (or composer/AMS) to make music but there doesn't seem to be a guide designed for people who know nothing.

Like there's plenty of guides telling you how to click to put down notes, but none that actually tell you how musicians know where to put the notes.
>>
>>3050729
Just look up vidya sheet music. Also look at the start of the measure if there are any sharps or flats.
