Holy shit it still makes me mad thinking about that. And it happened more than once too.

I had a friend who had won a Mew from a local Pokemon convention back when the game was like brand new in the USA and the local winner would get a Mew.

We heard of a trick doing transfers over the Gameboy cable where if you both start the transfer and then turn the gameboys off at the same time, both of you would get the pokemon being transferred (the flip side is, if you messed up and shut off at the wrong time, both of you could lose it.)

We tried it and it totally worked. I became one of the people with an original tournament Mew. Best feeling in the world.

I have kept my Gameboy and all the old games in a case. I was telling someone about it and went to show them a year back, and my blue game was missing from the case. In it's place, my little brother's red game. Of course, he was like 8 at the time and now that he's in his 20's, he has no idea what happened to that game.
