It's not as bad as everyone else's "HURR DURR GAMESHOP = SHIT" argument, they have some decent prices, and the whole "Thrift Stores & Yard Sales" advice is applicable to any and all /vr/ purchases online. If you want a decent price for a common title you'll find what appear to be average prices you'd find on ebay/amazon. Even so there are some deals (See: Castlevania Bloodlines, a $60-$70 game going for $40). Just don't expect to find Conkers Bad Fur Day or Chrono Trigger for $20, keep hunting down mom 'n pop shops for those.

If you like to collect for 360/PS3, Gamestop's B2G1 sales are excellent.
A lot of their last gen shit is marked 5-10 bucks, so you can walk away with ~6 games for $20-30 dollars at times.
Plus, every now and then they've been doing 4 for $10, which is the best deal around.

Not quite, some games are legit less common and higher in demand, the prospector bubble had near fucking everything labeled as collectible, despite having normal print runs and often not having any special value (so much worthless shiy nobody wanted was blatantly advertised as "collectible").

I do believe retrogames are at sort of an inflated period right now though.
