I didn't have Crash as a kid. Sypro 2, 3, and Digimon World were my life on PSX starting in 2000. Then my dad brought home a PS2 in 2002 and it blew my mind that there was a second one (I didn't know somehow) and that it could still play Spyro.

I don't think it was bad. It just didn't live up to the legacy of Ripto's Rage. That game had some seriously good atmosphere and level design. Nothing else in the series comes close.

Well, yes there are people in the retro games forum who like retro games. Welcome aboard.

By far my most played PSX game was Gran Turismo 2. Years spent getting cars and beating tracks, racing my same favorite races over and over. Sometimes I'd be so baked I couldn't drive, my buddy would play and I'd sit on the couch swaying around corners as if I was in the car.

I also liked the VR Missions better than actual MGS. I would have paid for a game which just had a huge bunch of VR Missions in sets of increasing difficulty, sorta like a casual/coffeebreak stealth game.

I missed the tire textures we had in GT1 when I first played GT2.

They doubled the texture resolution on cars from GT1 to GT2 because it was too difficult to make cars with lots of company/sponsor logos on them look good in the original game.

As a result GT2 has a ton of race cars included.

What emulator would you suggest for that? And would it run on a 2009 MacBook Pro?

8GB RAM, 1TB SSHD, C2D, not a powerful computer by any means, but I imagine it's more than enough to run PS1 games beyond native resolution?

If you got a videocard and a decent CPU then you are set.

If not, the emulation will be pretty bad.

You could use PSXfin but i think it has issues with a lot of games, most popular games will be fine though.

VR missions of MGS and MGS2 are some of the best things in the whole series. They squeezed the Metal Gear formula into a perfect, arcade-ish package which was a blast to play.

It's maybe 15 times that I beat Spyro3 since the 2001. Spyro2 was the second I picked up and it's just like 3 with different quest it look soo damn good. Spyro1 is the one I beat once and I find it a bit hard to this day. I'm gonna wreck this game soon. Why did you like Spyro?

Frankly, should be fine. I was emulating PS1 on 800 MHz+ back in the day and even a GFX5200 is easy enough for 3D. I've emulated on a 2006 MackBook Pro so you'll have no problem IMO
