Can we talk about Tiger LCD games? They honestly weren't THAT bad. Fun for car trips.

I'm personally not fond of most lcd games. They tried too hard to be good, but the technology was limiting in order for it do anything. Game and Watch is simple, but the Tiger and other LCDs are ambitious to say the least, which hurt them in the long run. But they were cheap and they were games so people ate them up.

I always wondered when Nintendo would finally mix things up for LCD games and just make micro gameboy clones, I would love to have a little GB keychain I can play some SML or Kirby's Dreamland on
>>
>>2917240
I got a lot in these since my parent's couldn't afford a Game Boy I spent hours thinking a drawing on how I would adapt other games I liked into lcd games.

>>2917256
Guess nobody would care about it now since you can play almost anything you want on a cellphone now, but I would like to see how LCD games would be if they were made today.

I haven't played that many Tiger LCD games, but X-Men: Project X was pretty fun, blasting baddies as Cyclops and summoning Wolverine to help if needed. Still have mine.
>>
I played the shit of a mighty Max one. There is a flash website that has a heap of them emulated

had this growing up and loved the fuck out of it
>>
Had the Ninja Gaiden one as a kid. And a friend that had a mountain of them.
Got a soft spot for them. Spent many summer evenings sitting on my friends front porch playing them together.
>>
Karnov was really fun. Batman was a pretty simplistic game but lots of fun.

Skeet shoot is still one of my favorite video games of all time. Bowling was solid as well.

Power Rangers.. it's no masterpiece but you'd play it, which is more than I can say for a lot of current gen games these days. Bart vs The Space Mutants wasn't a Tiger but it a cool LCD game of the time in that style. Nerd's episode about them had some truth but a lot of OTT bullshit also.

We had Merry Cook (Russian G&W knockoff) till 2005 or 2006, later it got broken.
Also I remember some Sonic LCD games in McDonald's, they came with Happy Meals, the were in 2002, probably.
>>
I would love to make some handheld games similar to these. The internal electronic components are dirt cheap. Don't know how you'd go about getting the custom LCDs, though. I suppose these days you'd be better off just using a cheap, general purpose LCD screen.
>>
>>2921748

Due to economies of scale, it would be cheaper to buy a generic LCD screen and fake the G&W look.

Bought a Mighty Max game from a thrift store recently, it was a good day.

These thing were ass and you know it. I'd rather do a crossword puzzle.
>>
Sorry, but I watched the Angry Video Game Nerd, so I don't see the need to form my own opinions.

But when I was a kid, I liked to play them over at the grandparents' house. Granted, the same thing was true of their Virtual Boy.
>>
Is there emulators of them? Or of game and watch?

There's a Tiger LCD game where you're a TIE fighter and you're shooting down X-Wings. Remarkably fun, and actually a bit challenging at the end. It was definitely a let-down considering that I'd already gotten a Game Boy, but it was good for when you had to go somewhere you didn't wanna bring anything steal-able or breakable to. Pools especially, the things are fairly bulletproof.

I had this awesome handheld pinball game once. It wasn't quite LCD, because the ball actually moved smoothly. The only graphics were the ball and flippers, the rest of the table was a hand-drawn overlay (3 to choose from) you would slide over the screen. It had features like multiball, and one table was casino-themed with a working slot machine.

What does the Doug button do?

Oh man, the tetris version of this was boss as fuck. Sure you had to hit a button to scroll up and down so you could see wtf you were doing, but it was full on tetris! On a watch!

I wonder what happened to my tetris watch...

Can you Doug it?

Ninja Gaiden seems really good.
I really liked how they managed to make an animation for his jump.

Others I personally liked a lot were Snake's Revenge and Megaman 2.
There was an Street Fighter one that had sound samples plus music, the music paused to play the samples, but it was really imppresive anyway.

How would /vr/ improve their favrite LCD game if you had the chance on make one?
I would try to make the best looking animation possible to.
Would make small tileable graphics as background/floor, that could be used to give a more smooth movement effect.
Music and less ear killing sound effects.
