Yeah, I understand that 100%. I just suggested that since typically they come with all the files needed so it's not overly difficult to pick the ones you want for mobile gaming.

Welcome to MAME, where you have to delete all your ROMs every month because they fuck with the set layouts.

I think that MAME4All Android build uses ROM sets from some older version of MAME. Good luck tracking those fuckers down.

Mame4all uses a pretty old set because it has a faster filelayout and less accurate emulation to run better on phones. Below is a mega link to a zip with a mame4all set with all games that are 90+ % compatible -CHD/Casino/Board/Special Controller games. Replace the space after mega with a period. The set totals to about 900 megs after extraction, so it's perfect for a phone/game console.

Also for anyone interested. An FBA 2.97.36 set with CPS1/2/Neo Geo. This is a good counterpart to the mame set i posted above as it covers all your retro arcade game bases pretty well.

As these two have said, it's due to Mame4all using an older version of mame, that uses different dumps of the roms than newer versions. Where as mame from 0.84 to 0.147 used 6 4kb files, mame from 0.148 to at least 0.158 is using 12 2kb files for Puckman. I figure most romsets you see around today are at least 0.149, so you're going to want to use that romset that anon uploaded.

As for people doing mame on their PC's, I highly recommend using 0.149, 0.151, or 0.161, as the internet archive has full ROM+CHD sets for all three so you don't have to worry about compatibility BS. The only problems you'll have then is having to hunt down BIOS files in some cases, and a quick google can usually handle that.
