Well 4 sucks ass and 2 is so unbalanced it's laughable. You can literally dominate at a high level with projectile traps and high kick anti airs. That leaves 3 as the most balanced and not cheese tactic laden of the original bunch.

MK2 was better than MK1 in every way and wasn't really worse in any single aspect. Other than maybe some of the killing moves becoming more about doing a cool magic move than *killing* the opponent.

MK3 started out bad, but by UMK3 it was solid. It had less graphical detail than MK2 and was too ridiculously silly to take the violence seriously - but the gameplay was great, even if imbalanced as fuck.

Also with the UKM3 upgrade they screwed up a ton of the backgrounds from MK3, that always bugged me to no end. I miss the chapel level.

MK9 was as great as the original series can be, and better than MK1 in every single way too.

MKX is as good as MK9 if not for the game bugs.

My biggest gripe is always that the fatalities turned into a circus. They turned from killing blows, to a long cool looking intricate set of moves, that kill the opponent.

They should get something like a pathologist to design them, instead of nerds who grew up on Naruto.

MK3 logo has some funky proportions, but it's very interesting nonetheless. There are those angular lines used to form the "3", along with the Dragon symbol inside. These two elements combined made for a very recognizable shape already.

Then you have the faux chrome plating onto the Dragon Symbol, which is a stark contrast to the traditional stone engraved mark from the first two games. Add the black marble texture onto the "3" and there, you have one of the most iconic logos in a vídeo game franchise. Sure, it's a relic from the 90s, but it shows how Mortal Kombat came a long way to become one of the biggest fighting game series of all time.
