not sure if this is bait... but Zombies Ate My Neighbors has similar game play... although i wouldn't call either game slow/mellow/relaxing at all.

The original Shenmue is very slow paced and mellow. The sequel isn't though. Although it is a better game.

I imagine a lot of point and clicks would be right up your alley. Try some Sam & Max.

Civ 5 on Settler difficulty, on a large map with fewer AI players than recommended. Plop cities wherever, move through the tech tree quicker than everyone, trade peacefully with everyone, don't go to war, don't prioritize religion. Just a nice day of empire-building without the stress.

Use Persia, the Dutch, Egypt, Morocco, the Inca, or Brazil for extra comfiness.

Bumping to say Paper Mario has the comfiest environments of any Mario game. It helps that it's very simple, so it makes for a relaxing experience.

of course toejam and earl is mellow and relaxing. just listen to the music. and you explore and aimless walk around a cartoony alien world. zombies ate my neighbors is none of those things.

Get your funky rocket bits back, they're scattered all over Earth. Earth is platforms floating in space. It's a really... funky... game, I guess. It's bizarrre to use a non-funk related term.
