Also they changed the yoshi icon on the "lives remaining" screen to a one with a 1px smaller nose and tail in the US version. No idea why.

In the Japanese version of Strider, he yells "Hah!" every time he swings his sword. They took this out of the US version, both in the arcade and on the Genesis, leaving only the ear-piercing sword sound effect.

In relation to that and the topic, adding Link's yelling from Ocarina of Time into the GBA port of Link to the Past was a pretty pointless and irritating.

I never understood why they changed the script for the localized version of Double Dragon III. It's not like changing the final boss of the game from Cleopatra to your undead girlfriend makes the plot any less stupid.

In the sewers directly under Paris in Deus Ex, the original version has about three inches of water on the ground, while the GOTY edition removes the water. Or maybe the other way around. Either way it's completely pointless and doesn't even affect fall damage if you fall off the ladder at the top.
