This is what the last few weeks of collecting have done for me.

Everything is complete and the 3D controller is still in the plastic for NiGHTS.

Pick up anything cool lately /vr/?
>>
More like recent purchases from Jewbay? You wouldn't find this shit in the wild especially in immaculate condition.
>>
The only retro shit I've found in the past week was a few PS1 games. DDR, Asteroids, and a longbox Wing Commander III all for $3. Everything else isn't retro.

OP here.

Everything was picked up locally. My entire collection was obtained locally through second hand shops or Kijiji.

Ebay is the devil.

After four years sporadically searching the web and other crevices, I've finally pieced together every official SNES NFR cartridge. I've also got the corresponding 'for display only' boxes for the games that have them. It was a long ride, but I finally made it to the end and can finally say I've achieved an actual goal. Most were eBay, one was a flea market stall at my local state fair, and another was from a guy on Nintendoage. The last one(Contra 3: The Alien Wars) came today.
>>
Nothing recently but I picked up Kirby's dreamland and pokemon red for 2.25 each at a salvation army in a town north of mine. My local goodwill charges a shit ton for stuff like that so I usually just go up and buy whatever I can find. Picked up NES for 5 bucks, an atari 2600 for 20 buck and a few 2600 commons, 1 buck each. Fixed the atari and the NES (needed a 72 pin connector.) I will admit, I'm an impulse buyer and every now and then I overpay for something I really want.

1$ each from my local game shop. He gave my syphon filter 2 and 3 with 1 because he wasn't able to sell them in the 5 years he had them.

Both of the Genesis games were also NIB shrink wrapped so yeah 10$ for 12 games

Pebble beach golf is my shit btw you ever seen a copy pick it up

robotech, Namco museum, ssx tricky, nfl street 1 & 2 for gamecube, 5 bucks each. also snagged night warriors for Sega Saturn for 15. no amazing deals but I like building up the cube collection. its my favorite system to collect for since it means the most to me.

My favorite GB games, plus one I haven't played before (Survival Kids).

I borrowed them in high school in the early 90s but never owned my own copies. As much as I loved them I only played them once. Looking forward to playing them again, and without the translation filter this time since I learned Japanese in the intervening years. Also first time with the color version of Zelda.

Survival Kids was a bit of an impulse buy but it looks promising.

Got this in the mail today. Tron Bonne is without a manual though. Might want to trade it for an American 3DS, Castlevania SotN or Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance. What do you guys think it's worth? The PAL release is quite rare.

Tron Bonne is a metric fuck ton in america.

I got Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped the other day

It sucks

Stupid 3D gimmick ruined platformers. I adored Crash on the GBA, it was a 2D sidescroller. I heard nothing but good things about Crash on PS1 and gave it a shot. Nope.

Even the platformers I picked up on PS2 aren't really platformers.

Prince of Persia is puzzles and combat
Ratchet and Clank is a 3rd person shooter

Isn't it telling that platformers these days are always heavily puzzle or combat based?? It's because 3D lacks the precision of control for jumping about on things.

Every other missed PS2 and PS1 game I picked up and played for the first time I loved though. (my teen years I only played gritty 'realistic' shooters and then moved to PC within a year or 2)

Bought Crash Team Racing CD with a blank generic case for $1. Met an interesting reseller who had some games at decent prices who was willing to trade vidya so I gave him my doubles of SMW & Super Empire Strikes Back and got Kirby's Adventure. Then I had a bunch of other games I wanted to trade, lots of low value games that cost me less than $5 so I didn't really care about giving them away, and I ended up giving them away for No Mercy on N64. The guy I traded the rest of my games to gave me a hint of attitude in his voice but otherwise I was satisfied in the trade. I think I gave him Gubble, KH greatest hits, Test Drive 5 on Dreamcast, and Pilot Wings on snes. Honestly, I'm just glad that I got rid of some of my doubles/shit games.
I also bought WCW NWO revenge.

>>
>>2801356
not him but I got Syphon Filter 1,2,3 for 1$ at my local game shop. If the game won't sell it goes on the "5$ for 5" shelf. Saw a copy of CTR there myself, didn't pick it up cause I don't like kart racers but yeah.
>>
>>2801356
I went to aa local flea market, I initially wnet there to buy No Mercy from one of the two resellers, but the place was packed and I saw a couple selling CDs, one if then was CTR, again without its case but fuck man that game is fun.

When the fuck did MGS for the GBC shoot up in price?

Like seriously, got it 2 years ago for 2$ sealed. I'm thinking about selling it now, cause holy fuck.
>>
>>2801375
I'm not really sure myself but if you want you can probably check racketboy, I think that covered it in a gameboy color article or Gameboy article, not too sure to be honest. That and probably because it was the first portable Metal Gear Solid game, and/or because it's fucking METAL GEAR!!! On Gameboy Color no less.
Personally I'd keep it because I'm gay and like spending money on useless plastic, but if you like dosh, go for it.

I learned about a used book store in my area and checked it out this Sunday. For the most part it was one of "those" stores that knew exactly what they had and priced accordingly, but there were a few deals to be had.
The GB games were $1 each
Destiny of an Emperor has the foil kinda coming off its label, and they openly stated that it needed a new battery, which I readily replaced, so I got that for $10 which is a bit less than half its current market value.
>>
>>2801176
According to my friend, these were all cast-offs to the proverbial junk bin. Stuff that's been around unsold for years, no guarantees they work. So it's not like I scored Summer Carnival 92, or the entire Rock Man series in this.
But still, it's "games that I don't have," Surprisingly, not having given him an inventory of my collection, only about a half dozen of these were doubles of what I already owned.

>Put in Max I'm willing to pay if the auction is at like the 2+ day mark
>Forget the auction exists

OR
>Snipe it at the last minute with what I'm willing to pay

The -worst- thing you can do is get into a bidding war with someone. I've seen stuff go for more then other listings just because some retards got into a bidding war and had to "win".

I lost some big ticket stuff this way, but when I was bidding on a Sunset Riders and it went to like 80 bucks while one was there for like 69.00 on someone else' I just picked up that one.

You want auctions with very little interest

I got Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy VIII (both complete) for a combined $25 the other day. No regrets there. Basically, a retro store I go to for cheapies has a level oriented discount card, and level 5 allows a buy one get one free deal. So I bought RE2 and got FFVIII for free. I certainly overpaid for RE2, but the addition of a second game of the same value made it an actually decent deal.

Wasn't playing it for long, not really a Mario 3 fan, I prefer the fake one (2), I got a few Famicom carts already, went in blind and got burned as they are RPGs, also a 84-1 that has all the early Fami games.

Somebody just added me to a Facebook page that has people in Japan selling games,
MY BANK BALANCE IS NOT READY!!
Good job im going for those dodgy bootlegs

Bought Life Force on NES for $13
Almost bought a 9" Sony CRT but it was in kinda shit shape, otherwise it would've been perfect for my desk and play my games on.

I just wanted to complete a full subset of games without having to get hundreds of games just to have a complete set of something. The SNES NFR set caught my eye. And all in all, the NFR selection is pretty choice games. I do play them, and the ones I have boxes for are on display, but the rest(8 of the 14), are in baggies stored in a Rubbermaid tote, with most of my other games.

how much extra did you have to pay for some of those titles comparatively to there regular going prices?
>>
>>2819910
Some were fifty times more expensive. The lesser titles, like the sports games and Tetris Attack are only slightly more expensive than their retail counterpart. The thing is, the are so few of them and even fewer willing to give them away once they have them. I can speak by example. I don't plan on ever parting with them. The more desirable titles came up so infrequently on eBay and Nintendoage that it took three years to get them all. I just actually bought the first Mortal Kombat 2 from eBay that was less than four hundred dollars. The last one to sell was six months ago for 400. I had to let it go. But the guy who sold me the one I have was pretty cool, he held it for me until I could allocate the funds for it. I understand most people would call me crazy, but any kind of collecting is a little crazy. Coins, stamps, games, what have you. I'm just content I am able to have the full working set in good shape.

Bionic Commando on NES is probably my favorite game of all time. Nice pickup.

On my end, I just got some new SNES titles in a trade today: Megaman X (been wanting this for a while now), Super Punch Out, and a bunch of filler... Mortal Kombat 3, Lion King, Mickey Mania, NBA Jam (I already had T.E. but not the regular one) and Super Soccer. All I really wanted from that lot was the Megaman, but I won't complain.

Good stuff still

Yeah I'll admit the Disney titles are usually decent games. Mickey Mania is cool if you're familiar with all the classic Mickey Mouse cartoons from way back. You essentially get to interact with those old cartoons in a platformer. Cool shit if you're old enough to appreciate it.
