What does /vr/ think about the Delta Force games ?

they all look the same but I played the demo of the first one to death

I loved Delta Force. I played 1,2,& Land Warrior on the LAN with my brother and neighbors. We were an awesome crew, working together pretty well even though we were young.

I played 2 & Land Warrior on Novaworld for dayyyys. There's never been another game that's more fun to snipe in (provided the network sync was good on your server and no lag).

Why can't someone design a good, open world/open expanse sniper game? BF games are way too linear. Last one I found was Joint Operations.

That Demo was my favorite FPS for a while back in the day.

You get dropped in with like 2 dudes and assault a satellite dish base with watch towers.

Great fun was had.

I used to love the fuck out of the 1st game when it came out
I'm not sure that there were any games like it back then, where they drop you on a big ass map and you just have to deal with the objective like an operator

Playing MGS5 actually reminded me a ton of this game

Played 1, 2, Land Warrior, then finally got Black Hawk Down. BHD was the best one. Multiplayer in BHD was some of the best times I've had with a multiplayer FPS. Medic 4 Lyfe yo. Used to play all night and stumble around half-awake the next day while constantly looking around for snipers in the distance.

played the first one so god damn much online. it was like the only thing i did for a long time. i had a hand-me-down computer that couldn't run CS but it ran delta force just fine. so i just played the shit out of deathmatch.

Delta Force was one of the only video games my dad ever took an interest in and actually tried playing. The demo was super awesome. I used to circle that base in the canyon, taking what felt like hours of intense operations, clearing people out, then everything would crescendo into a massive fight as you assaulted down into the base firing off grenade launchers and shit. It had a really nice feel to it how you could pick off pixels like 1000 miles away.

Also, BHD was a very weird niche game I think a lot of people might not know existed or over-looked, but it actually had a very healthy community. It was very janky and rife with hacking, but there was loads of clan ladders, community maps, servers, etc. I actually played it competitively in a team with my Uncle, complete with a a fucking disgusting geocities-tier website, with edgy blood red fonts and metal music playing and shit. Fuck me.

The campaign had some pretty huge maps with rolling objectives, there'd be a copter fly-by, then you'd land and clear apartment blocks, then you'd be storming through a desert tundra in jeeps at night and getting into heavy armor fights, destroying bridges, and finally clearing evac to get back in a chopper. I hadn't really played any milsims I don't think, so it felt pretty fucking epic to me.

I used to love the 50v50 or whatever servers, and there was a map which was based on a campaign map, where you escort a convoy to a stadium. the MP version was basically assault or defend the stadium, with like a ticket spawn system i think, or just round time or some servers. It could take ages to slow push towards the stadium having been spawn trapped at first, and finally the attackers get to spawn trap the defenders as they swarm into the stadium.

played 1 & 2 a lot at LANs. Always reliable and rock solid.

I'd say 2's online had the best balance (save for hackers, which were rampant).

Especially in LW, the maps were usually designed so that there was some CQB encouraged (buildings, trees, cover for people who don't want to snipe).

I always felt like in LW that they made the FN Mag and SAW too powerful and too accurate at range, where some retard with an FN Mag could take you out from miles away even if you were sniping from really far away.
