Does anybody have some pictures, without scanlines, that show the difference between the Model 1 and 1-CHIP SNES models? I have heard mixed opinions on the 1-chips, with some people saying they have more colour and are much sharper, while others say that the shading isn't right and some games look terrible because of it.

I dont have photos, but I have had both regular and 1chip snes' and I can say with a fair bit of certainty that the 1chip is better.

I have both as well, and while the regular is less sharp and has more colorbleed, the 1CHIP has a far noiser image and way overbright whites and less dark blacks. I feel that on the balance of things, the regular is better (but I can understand why people might like the 1CHIP).

Is this the kind of thing you're after OP?

I think OP is looking for pictures of the systems in use on the same TV, so he can see the video quality difference.

top is stock 2chip, bottom is stock 1chip, in between are various stage of 2chip modding to get to the same 1chip quality

Not OP but a believer now.

Still would be nice to see some game comparisons, however.

the mod is terrifying tho
Also, playing on a CRT tends to hide 2chip weaknesses (even using RGB), but even on one I can tell that 2chip quality is not that great.

Agreed on all points.

The link is appreciated but these pics don't do the 1CHIP justice.

The differences aren't all the noticeable. They're there but you need side by side comparisons.

1chip is basically an official SOAC clone by Nintendo. It has problems with some games I've heard but has marginally sharper/better colors.

It's nothing like how with the Genesis you don't know if you've got a shitter until you turn it on. Nintendo was very good with their revisions and quality control.
