What spooky game is /vr playing in honor of Halloween?
Pic VERY related. About to play this gem!
AvP Gold. Marine Campaign. Pitch black room and headphones.
Dark Half. You can play as the villain and absorb the souls of NPCs.
Why the hell should I do what you command as if I were some sort of house cat?
It's called Dark Half.

Find a Japanese rom somewhere.
Such a great game to play with a group of people! The best time I ever had playing HotD2 was with a couple buds that aren't into games that much. They of course never heard of HotD so I made them play. We had a blast and played a good chunk of the night(alcohol was also involved). One of my friends actually got thumb blisters from that night.
I should be playing this, but I socketed the cart and now I can't find the rom. (as in the physical fucking chip)
Clock Tower (SNES)
Ghouls n Ghost
Psychic Killer Taromaru
Alone in the Dark
Not playing them but here are some recommendations
Green disc and dagger are best. Lance is workable, but I prefer dagger... generally speaking.
Any weapon should be doable, but some are rougher than others... unlike Super GnG which has some god awful throwaway weapons that are utterly worthless.
Of course you can only get the best weapon and enter the final battle on the second round, but it sounds like you know that.
Which part was giving you trouble?
The part with after you climb up the ladder when you see the smaller version of Astaroth. I think I had the green disc too this is the genesis version too btw but I just gave up not bad for my first attempt at the level.
Does it ever get better than "copypasted rooms after copypasted rooms with respawning aliens, with limited saves to amp the difficulty"? Because I'm at the half of it, and looking for levers is getting annoying.
That sounds pretty awful, man. It's been a LONG time since I played the original AVP, but I don't remember it being anywhere near THAT bad.
Hope time hasn't gradually increased the rose tint in my glasses...
Whoa. Side note.
I just now remembered that I had an old PC mag with a feature on AVP before it came out, and a demo if it on a CD. I gotta see if I still have it somewhere.
Great game, but sadly not /vr/ enough.
Dreamcast is the newest system /vr/ acknowledges. Yeah, it's not far off from some of the oldest PS2 games, but that's where they've decided to draw the line.
