Shitty design. Quadruped body type despite needing to be biped to use its weapons effectively. Too drastic of a change from its mid stage. Not fighting type in a gen that literally has four other quadruped sword wielding fighting types.

Design-wise: It goes quadruple when both pre-evolved forms are bipedal and shares nothing with them.

Competitive-wise: "Is a high HP + low bulk episode" and "Is a slow mixed attacker episode" are the worst combination that a Pokémon can have. It is the ONLY Water-type starter in PU.

I used one on my team amd it was one of the weaker links. Very disappointing because it couldn't take hits and it was too slow to reteliate effectively.

The sad thing about Samurott is that it has a pretty cool design, such that it doesn't really need any major overall. It...just needs to stand up.

Actually, you could say that design choice makes sense from a thematic perspective (Grass-type) and from a physical perspective. If it runs like a raptor (supposedly) did, then the tail would be a counterbalance for its body.

From a competitive standpoint it suffers from the same issue as Meganium and to a certain extent Decidueye: Jack of all trades, master of none. Which in a game like pokemon where most of the time sets have you dumping all your points into 2 stats with the last scraps being thrown on something else, a "jack of all trades" pokemon will almost never work.

The only thing that can save Samurott is a Mega that increases it's speed and attack power, give it an ability that increases slashing/cutting moves, give it a secondary type and have it stand on in two legs with a badass seamitar.

I think the thing that throws people off unknowingly is the giant ass shell helmet. Dewott showed no signs of this and if they removed it'd look far closer to it's previous evolutions.
