That's not what you do, find any pokemon that takes extra work to get due to being rare or locked behind some feature, but is also sought out for battling purposes (I used Jangmo-o) and you'll get pretty much anything from people. Even legendaries, since many people wont care about legendaries that much,

GTS is not a good place for mythicals since 99% carry a Classic/Premier Ribbon preventing them from being traded. Really, if there is anything that needs fixing it is that.

People get a ton of each pokemon just from breeding, after all. That and if you searched by Pokemon Wanted, you wouldn't be seeing all those "GIB MEW FOR WEEDLE" trades.

Not that hard. Plus, you should only be using the GTS to get some of the version-exclusives and legendaries, that's all.

Until they stop mythicals from being asked even though they're banned, and they add search functions for natures, pokeball, IVs and so on, then it will always be shit.

Make it so Pokemon that are deposited and forgotten are eventually removed from the list.

Allow me, when depositing a Pokemon, to specify what I want in more detail. Like only the mon with its english (or whatever my region is) name, or just no nickname, or this particular ability or gender. Also let me filter with those same options when searching.
Let players "inspect" Pokemon the same way they can when doing trades with friends.

Bonus: add GTS functionality into the Pokemon Bank itself.
