>tfw my favorite MaxiexMay fanfic got into eternal hiatus when it was just missing the last chapter
>Author says she cringes with it now so she reboots it (outside of some "oh for Arceus" and other slang, it wasn't so bad really)
>Reboot goes constantly, I don't like it as much but I just want a conclusion to the story
>Now is just missing the last chapter again

Just finish this thing already oh God
Pic half unrelated

What fic is it, anon?
I don't really read fic that much because it's hard to find anything worth reading. It's a lot of trudging through garbage.
>>33546701
Original was Ashes to Ashes, the reboot is called No Man's Land. Island Wolf is the username of the author.
She did another fanfic of the pair called Ships in the Night, which is more like a sort of retelling AU of Pokémon BW and so far is more comfy, but has been dead even longer than NML.
never forget

That's a bummer man, sorry to hear.
Makes me wish I was into writing again. I used to write a lot, never done a pokemon fic before but I couldn't ever commit to more than a 2 chapter fic at the most. It takes too long to polish a chapter and I'm always afraid of disappointing people by getting bored and abandoning it.

Yeah same here. I used to write a lot but I kind of gave up after school got heavier, and never tried anything because I'm always worried about not nailing the characters that well since I'm a lore and canonfag. I recently have tried my hand at some fancomic since some friends liked a gag I did and wanted to expand on the idea, and still feel a bit nervous about fucking it up. Or spending like 10 years into completing the story like those nuzlocke comics. Also about the MaxiexMay fic, maybe I'm biased but I cringe a bit more with the reboot than with the original, mostly because the reboot went really crazy on the second half with re-adapting the red orb into a weird mix of RSE/ORAS/manga... thing. I really just wish the author would have finished the original fic instead.

I don't get how someone has the patience to rewrite an entire fic that's already almost complete, honestly.
I like lore and canon too but if an author has an idea that doesn't fit, I'd rather just let them take liberties as long as it's not hamfisted and makes sense in the way it's being presented.Like I used to like Dawn/Cyrus a lot until 90% of the fics I saw had Cyrus as a sadistic rapist and no motivation for anything he fucking did. I can handle a lot of squick but without any set up it just seemed really stupid. Finding actual realistic character portrayals and interactions is so hard.

>that spoiler
Oh dear I get you. I also tried to check for fics of them years ago and found myself full of the ones you mentiones. I don't know who started that dynamic nor how they reached that conclusion, but it kills the mood.
>>33547009
It's the worst dude, I loved that pair. Cyrus is imposing and crazy but he's not some sexual deviant. I'm not even against lewd or dub/noncon fics it just seems so out of character to jump straight to sexual assault.
>>33547040
I also suffered that case with the Subway Bosses. Some artist began drawing Ingo as a sadist and then many other followed the trend. It became a pain to go through the pages looking for something that didn't involve sexual violence.
>>33547085
Honestly that's the exact reason I didn't really get into those two as characters. It seemed out of nowhere.
If you're going to make someone a creep, pick someone that makes senseLike Ghetsis or something
>>33546013
>i thought that was Hilbert getting fucked in the ass by Carracosta
>>33547121
Ghetsis is too busy getting redemption-through-love fanfics. Not as many as I would think, but still has his fair share somehow.
>>33547210
the fuck why he's easily the most fucked up of all the pokemon villians
>>33547249
That's how people roll. Tbqh I have stopped trying to understand. And I agree, Ghetsis is my favorite villain precisely because he was just evil to the core and had a cool design on B2W2, but I don't want him in any other way that isn't a fucked up psycho vegetable.
>>33547307
you have good taste anon
I feel Lysandre could have been pretty good too, but his goal was so vague I honestly couldn't really figure out what he was trying to accomplish or why. Ghetsis at least was pretty easy to understand.
