Why do people care about following Pokémon?

Because for a series about them, pokemon are basically glorified weapons, and the trainer's basically a chauffeur carting them around to each fight. I'm not naive enough to think it'll be in USM, but anything that lets you use pokemon for anything but boring old 1v1's is a good thing to me.
