I get what you're saying but some of the best games in the series are re-releases. You can't just base your argument that giving GF money for USUM is a bad idea because they're just re-releases of SM. And saying SM were bad doesn't really work either because DP were shit compared to Platinum and BW were shit compared to B2W2. The quality of the original release doesn't indicate the quality of the re-release.

You're already selling it short, though. We know the game has new areas and new Z-Moves. It's also pretty early to assume the new UBs are replacing old ones rather than just being added to the game. I don't think the games are gonna be some amazing leap forward from SM but it seems pretty obvious to me that people are betting against it right from the start.
