What ability would have works better without making it OP?

You can't without making stupid changes. This thing hinders golisopod because of SR weakness which can't be fixed. Just remove it altogether.
>>33541350
Literally any ability that isn't pure/huge power or speed boost considering Golisopod only has a BST equal to starters final evolutions.

Keep Emergency Exit as is, but make it fully restore its HP, one time only.
Battle Armor, Pressure.

At less then half HP, it instead switches out next time the opponent uses a move.
That way it can get one last shot in before leaving
I'd just change the ability so he'd automatically switch out before getting hit with an attack that would KO it. The odds of it working depend on how much HP he has left.

Emergency Exit activates at red health

Run Away

This pokemon cannot be trapped by moves (Leech Seed, Mean Look, etc) or abilities (Arena Trap, etc).

Anticipation is literally the perfect "fix Golisopod" ability.
>The Pokémon can sense an opposing Pokémon's dangerous moves.
It's very similar to EE's description, makes sense thematically, and even has practical benefit of having it know when the opponent has SE coverage.
If you want to fix Emergency Exit, have it attack before fleeing (if it hasn't done so already).
Otherwise there are lots of relatively neutral abilities that could work: Battle/Shell Armor, Damp, Hyper Cutter, Inner Focus, Pressure, Rain Dish, Run Away, Sturdy, Swift Swim, Weak Armor.
But I think a really good ability would be Stakeout - it's kind of the opposite of Wimp Out in that it punishes the opponent for switching. I think it could be really cool.
