I missed out on the first Pokken (no Wii U) and the demo is pretty fun, so I'm excited for it.

The only thing that sucks is the some of the roster choices.

The whole point of having a pokemon fighting game is having characters and creatues with unique abilities. The hitmons don't have this.

Pokken has basically zero single player content, so if you want that then you'll be unsatisfied unless the pure novelty of a pokemon fighting game is that appealing.

But if you want a competive fighting game to really sink your teeth and time into and to git gud at, then you should enjoy it. Pokken's a very fundamentals/mindgame based game with a heavy focus on neutral state play, and there's a lot of mechanics that reward combo diversity (mainly thanks to the phase shift system and how pokken handles attack heights, which it does uniquely) and changing your play based on the moment/oppenent rather then just autopiloting based on the matchup. Inputs are reaitvely simple and combos tend to be relatively short a but it depends on the character and optimal/high level combos tend to be longer and have higher timing/positioning requirements.

In essence, Pokken has a low skill floor but not a low skill ceiling.

I'm not into fighting games so not going to buy it, but I hope it does well. There need to be more succesful Pokemon spin-offs.
