Platinum only had to fix the technical flaws of DP to be a good game, while SM is irredeemable.

Like I said, it's important to not let nostalgia be the only factor when you judge a game. When you do, you lock yourself out of enjoying yourself in newer and much better games and instead wallow in your childhood memories of an objectively bad game.

I stopped at your first "point" by the way, you are calling an interconnected region with great explorable depth bad design because it's not a straight tunnel and you get to travel to towns and routes that connect with each other in different ways. The defining achievement of Sinnoh is its interconnectivity and you call it bad because "muh backtracking" which is not an argument.

No it didn't. It's biggest flaw was that battles ran slow as dog shit and this was still very much present in Platinum. The entire game felt like a slow uphill climb that grew tiring very quickly.

The only areas that seem to have obviously been cut from SM were the interior of the volcano, and the golf course. The only one of those that's jarring in-game is the volcano. Never got this "SM are obviously unfinished" thing. It could definitely use more areas, but if it did anything well, it was polish what it had into something that appeared complete, with only a few glaring flaws. From a presentation standpoint.

I'll take a well made game light on content over a big, "fleshed out" game with a lot of design and system flaws.
