You mean 4. Frontier is hands down the best of the series in every way.

The others are good and this one could've been done better, but less so than all of them before or since.

I used to think 4 was the best, but a rewatch made me realize the second half is hilariously repetitive up until the last couple, not to mention how badly Kaisergreymon and Magnagarurumon job after only winning once. Further still how annoying it was that only the protagonist and his friend/rival got anything past beast, especially since this was after Tamers where everyone achieved Mega, and the special protagonist exclusive mode wasn't achieved until the last second.
Still like it though, just think 3 is better now.

I haven't read the manga, so I can't rate them, but for me:
Tamers > Frontier >= Savers > 02 = 01 > Xros Wars
I'm also liking Tri so far, but I need to wait until its done before I rate it.

4 is awful. After the Cherubimon saga, it falls off considerably with everyone but the 2 main boys being useful and a repetitive Royal Knights garbage. First half isn't that great either, with most of the characters hilariously underdeveloped and reeking of tired season 1 tropes. Plus making the kids digimon removed the human and digimon relationships. And before you say "dur the humans were worthless in a fight", it has already been established that the human partners are the source of the Digimon's powers, and they grow stronger as they get closer.

And if that's not good enough, season 3 found the perfect compromise with them fusing together.
