Idk, as a kid I never perceived pokemon as magical, it all seemed very scientific to me, a bit too down to earth if you ask me.
Everything seemed explainable truth be told (up to gen 2 anyway)

, it just seemed like there was a bunch of mutants and megafauna running
As for the egg things, I also presumed they were all reptiles with traits of other animals similar to that of the dinosaur .
What are your sentiments on this?

I agree with you here. It's part of what sets apart and justifies Fairy type; Fairy type IS the "Magic" type, as it's the only type truly centered around it.
