I would kill for more mature story in a new pokemon game. Not edgy, you've already had a dude literally try to destroy all of reality in DPPt, but something that makes you question a few things. Maybe literally just a story closer to Emerald's where there's two 'teams' who are both trying to do the right thing and you have to decide which one is more right.

Make the climax of the game better instead of just ending after one battle, better yet, integrate the elite 4 into the climax like black and white did. I always hate it when pokemon games end the main story before the elite 4 as it makes the elite 4 less grand.

Humans and pokemon typically don't fight, because humans would get badly injured, and lusamine is smart enough to use her pokemon even if she's a monster
I think what we got was certainly the most satisfying way to do it, gameplay wise, and there hasn't been a better boss fight in the series
