Joe is my favorite for running the best site, WPM is my second favorite. Pokejungle lies to everyone for hits and Archaic is corrupt as fuck. Pokejungle is kind so he has that going for him. Archaic doesn't really care about Pokemon or know anything about it but likes to pretend his website is successful because of him when really his website is the result of other people's work. Serebii is very knowledgeable about the games, but I think out of all of them WPM knows the most about Pokemon and he seems to love it the most. I also like he's the most real and calls things out for what they are, unlike Serebii who sucks Nintendo's dick (only thing I have against him desu). WPM doesn't give a fuck about what others think and isn't afraid to call TPC, fans and other sites out on their bullshit. (One of his posts recently called Ed Foldfarb a "lousy composer," gave me a huge chuckle.)

The main reason why Pokemon fan sites became so popular is because of Nintendo/TPC/GF themselves failing to tell players about things like IVs and EVs, along with the release date gaps. Not to mention being effectively an online guide.

I would say that the release gaps are by far the biggest reason. It i common knowledge that Serebii was founded on delivering news about Crystal in Japan to the West. Competitive pokémon wasn't pushed at all back in the day so you usually only got into it and shit like IVs/EVs once you had already discovered online pokémon sites and communities.

I had a friend who was part of the inner Pokemon web circles in early 2000s, so I occasionally got pulled into their nonsense. Even back then, WPM was kind of a laughing stock. He was notorious for really wanting to play with the big boys, so he'd constantly suck up to Joe.
