Im probably close to wrapping things up, maybe finalize all the encounters or even make events for the Gen 1 legendaries once i figure out how, so beside these is there anything im missing out that should i look into? I was also thinking that since i've made Gym Leader rematches possible might aswell make stronger rematch teams but im not sure if it fits the nature of my hack, what do you think?

I think the shit you're pointing to is just a byproduct of using sprites designed for a 144p console in a 480p space. You'd probably have to redo all the sprites to fit a higher resolution if you wanted less empty space.
Not trying to defend Essentials at all, it's pure shit, but just playing devil's advocate for this specific UI.

The default Essentials window size is 480x320, twice the GBA's resolution of 240x160. Perfect for a Gen 3 battle interface.

Another option is a 512x384 window, twice the 256x192 DS screen resolution. Note that the gray bottom bar background is only 512px wide; it's missing behind "Bag" and "Run".

Clearly the Essentials creators designed a proper knock-off of the Gen 4 battle UI, but this game creator thought bigger = better and wanted to distract from the Pokemon sprites with a giant tree for some reason.

That one Essentials defender always talks about its technical advantages, like animated sprites and internet connectivity, but those aren't in question. The people who created Essentials are talented programmers. The users, though... not so much.

How about a motive that the player can understand or even sympathize with, except the team is taking it too far, or gives up their ideals for power, or uses their cause to justify evil deeds? Basically like Team Plasma; people had thought about the cruelty of locking Pokemon up and fighting with them before B/W.

So if they're forcing Pokemon to evolve... why are they doing that? Do they think evolved forms are happier? Or better able to survive some upcoming natural disaster? Or somehow "genetically superior" (Pokesupremacists)? Maybe they heard about Mega Evolution and misinterpreted it? (You could also use the S/M dex entries, which now imply Mega Evolution to be a bad thing.) Perhaps the leader just wants a really powerful Pokemon and lies to his grunts; or he's idealistic but loses control of the grunts who just work for him to gain power.

There's a VST called NES VST. It's a bit more realistic sounding than a soundfont or .wav. It's how I learned that I'm terrible at GSC style battle themes
I don't really know what to do with music. I know I want to compose for a fangame but my computer can't handle VSTs very well and I've never tried inserting a song into a rom.

Alright I'm midway through a romhack and can't decide the direction I want to take it. It's basically Gen II, but you start out as a guy working a 9-5 in Goldenrod and complete sidequests to save up for your first Pokemon. You go an alternative route through Johto, nothing too life changing. The idea was to highlight what it'd be like to not be one of the professor's chosen children, and you'd never get the "chosen one" events that happen.

The original idea was to have a few nods to the G/S/C player, with NPCs mentioning stuff like the Radio Tower incident or otherwise, but not to focus on it.

But now I think I want to run it simultaneous to the G/S/C story, and you'd hear and see all the accomplishments of this super special little kid, and eventually have to beat him as the Champion. Also debating making him the "rival" of the game with multiple fights.

Which idea do you like better?

Gen 2 has a fully complete disassembly that's really intuitive to use (in my opinion of course, some people have had issues with it). Essentials is already an awkward imitation in its base form, but when it tries copying Gen 2 directly it ends up having a huge uncanny valley effect. You should really just cut the middleman and hack Gen 2 directly, you don't even need to know assembly if you just want to add maps/trainers/Pokémon/etc.

Liquid Crystal-is pretty much done,just missing the rest of Orange Islands.It has Johto,Kanto and some of the Orange Islands.And with some extra things its more of an expansion to Crystal.

Crystal Dust is more of a remake that just improves things already in Crystal.Its still needs one more release to add more of Kanto.

Liquid Crystal is putrid shit. Its OCs are horrible, and though they don't take up that much space at the start they become more and more prominent, and by the time you get to Kanto they become 90% of the plot, and 100% of the plot when you get the eight Kanto badges and the game becomes complete fanfiction.

If you're still interested, I could really use a female trainer. I started on a male trainer.

I'd like her to be made in the GBA style/size. You can take any creative liberties you'd like, but I'd like her to be relatively simple in design (As my project is focusing on the simpler days of early Pokemon.)

This can be done without being edgy. You just have to be able to write it.

Galatic would have been better if by summoning the trio, it started opening some sort of rift that was wiping the planet way. You could have several gym leaders and ace trainers fly in and try to stop it, resulting it a gym leader dying, etc.

I can't draw either, but I've found it pretty easy to take other sprites from various games and use parts as a guideline.
Once you have a basic outline worked out, it's simple to fill it in using a similar style to the Pokemon games.

I find it surprisingly fun to devamp sprites, but I'm bad so it takes a while. Half the fun is figuring out which two colors form a palette that fits.
