Is there a reason why the sport moves are almost never used? So far I've gone 6W-0L with a doubles team using latias with water sport to support tapu bulu and mega scizor, I feel that these moves have more potential than they are given credit for.
CUYG-WWWW-WWW8-R2NV this is a replay showcasing how effective it can be.

why not just use dual screens or veil
>>33513685
why not just use rain dance
>>33513693
Duel screen's takes 2 turns to set up, where wate sport takes one, and havily nerfs scizor's only weakness. Hail has poor synergy with most teams.
>>33513700
Water sport reduces fire damage by 67% where ad rain dance only decreases fire damage by 50%
>>33513685
>water sport on a latias
does she have poison gas too?
>>33513795
It learns water sport.
>>33513808
that wasn't my point
>>33513685
Compared to rain dance, it has alot less use.
>>33513819
Howso? Reducing the damage by 67% instead of 50% is pretty nice, and doesn't backfire by boosting the other teams water moves.
>>33513837
This is actually a valid point
>>33513685
I didn"t even know it got buffed
>>33514069
Thanks.

That's what I mean, these moves became so obscure that people forgot about them, you can even try a rain dance team with mud sport and center it around mega gyarados, and pelipper. It would be fun to see a bit more diversity in the meta.

>Water sports
>>33513685
It's extremely niche much like magic room for setup+scarf and gravity in general. Would probably see much more usage if it lasted a lot longer than it does. Say 10 turns. Would make it a valid defensive play for a lot more things than just fire weak pokemon, like mega sableye which has issues with physical fire types.
>>33513837
It has the drawback of limiting your team building as it weakens your own fire attacks also. So a team based off using the sports has to forgo coverage, and fire types are a welcomed friend to a lot of things that prefer water sport.

If you really need the coverage for steel you can use fighting type coverage, the sport moves are for specific teams I agree, but in those teams they work fantastically. There should be a few more sport moves to diversify the teambuilding.
>>33514137
hm, Mud Sport on a mono-water team and Water Sport on a mono-bug team sound promising
>>33514415
Don't forget that summoning rain means you can use rain strats as well.
>>33518504
It does, I might look into a mud sport mono water team.
>>33518504
Lead sticky web masquerain with water sport seems like your best bet. It might be more common if volc wasn't so good on mono bug.
>>33513795
Degenerate scum
>>33514415
That isn't really as severe a drawback considering you have the luxury of knowing you're using watersport and just choosing not to run many or any fire moves.
