Why would you ever need a fire type?

You already need a flyer, fly hits grass and bug just like fire. If you have a fighting type you'll have ice and steel too, as well as covering normal, rock and dark.

if you want speed, consider using crobat, floatzel, and jolteon
bibarel and staravia are good hm slaves
you get an eevee in hearthome from the girl whom makes pcs
drifblim or whatever it is only shows up on fridays
you have access to rotom as soon as you get cut but its level 20 and can't get its form changed
theres an optional route south of whatever the town is that dawn and the professor are with level 30 ish trainers as soon as uou get surf, good for grinding
grow LOTS of leppa berries

Fight every trainer you see, you have to get every Pokemon including Manaphy seen in the regional dex to access post game. Also the end game level curve is a bit fucked so you may want to use a traded member or two.

There's an ingame trade where you give a Medicham for a Haunter that's holding an everstone that pisses off a lot of people, it's a + speed nature so its worth making if you can evolve it.

There is a porygon in the area with the fighting gym, terrible against the gym. Porygon-Z is really good though.
