I love Gen IV - Pearl was the first game I actually owned myself - but DP had too many flaws to be considered the best games.

It's not. It still carries some of the prominent issues from DP and still has its mediocre region. I'm not saying it's bad, it's certainly a good game, but DP being inherently mediocre games drags it down.

BW get put on a pedestal because they had no old Pokemon, so losers who got bullied for "still playing Pokemon" felt that Game Freak were finally putting their middle finger up at genwunners when they made BW. Funnily enough, a lot of gen 5 designs were actually call-backs to gen 1 Pokemon so that couldn't be further from the truth.

They are pretty underrated, but there was a little too much didactic exposition and pokemon musicals were the absolute worst.

I did like how it had gen 1 callbacks like >>33510736 with some pokemon designs and N becoming the champion. That's how gen 1 pandering should be, not like the blatantly hamfisted stuff like in gen 6/7.
