Alright looking back at DP, BW and XY, Tepig first evolved in 77, Chimchar and Turtwig evolved respectively in episodes 100 for Turtwig and 132 for Chimchar and lastly Froakie which evolved the earliest in episode 52. So unless we are getting another DP where both starters fully evolve (we won't get that btw) the first starter evolution is only around 20 episodes away, 2 of which we know are kanto filler. So, how the hell are any of the two starters find a reason to evolve in this pretty much guaranteed ocean of filler? Litten didn't even have a proper battle yet and Rowlet is either doing random comedic garbage outside of battle or functioning like a regional bird.

Surprisingly the totem never initiated any attacks while only taking in bubble most of the time. It wasn't even much of a battle but Lana trying to reel the totem which she could never have done without weakening it. It was pretty much 2v1.
