Although they weren't anything special in terms of battle, the way that you had to actively search for them is something I really missed in SM. The UB's could have done this, but instead they appeared on the first encounter, their location was given to you, and you were given beast balls that easily caught them.

The Lake Trio is better than the Genies, Swords of Justice, the Beast Trio and all of those standalone legendaries that do nothing like Heatran or Cresselia. At least they have a purpose.

The Lake Trio, althought they do something, are terrible designs. They were trying to make another Mew, and fell flat on their face by making some shitmons. At least the Regis looked cool.

Honestly, I would say they're worse than the musketeers and genies. At least the genies got alternate forms and all six of those mons are decent to use. The pixie trio are kind of uninspired and have retarded lore associated with them.

Lake Trio is cute imo. And Uxie is pretty cool.
They're also all decent Pokémon. Only Azelf is really unique competitively, though.

Regis are best, both design-wise and how you encounter them in their debut game. Really the only trio I dislike is the lake pixies, though.
