How is that cherry-picking? There are several examples, and each of them are comparing similar kinds of Pokemon.
>>
>>33499201
yes, several picked cherries.

You could say, compare Diglett to Excadrill, and it essentially swaps the typical concerns laid out by your overused meme image.
>>
>>33499191
Picture void simply because New Pikachu is also old Pikachu.
>>
>>33499220
>comparing a first stage to a fully evolved mon
I thought he was the one cherry picking
>>
>>33499244
you can change Excadrill it to Drilbur or Diglett to Dugtrio and his point is still valid
>>
>>33499244
Dugtrio is literally three Diglett, but angrier

The point stands
>>
Almost all of these can be done Gen 1 to Gen 2 and be apt. There was a different design philosophy from the original manga idea that got made into Gen 1 and Pokemon as a series.
Pikachu's look changed in yellow.
Closest steed parallel is tauros vsmiltank.
Rattata vs sentret
Pidgey vs Hoothoot
Hitmonchan vs top.
Growlithe vs Houndour
Flareon vs Umbreon
And that's just the first half.
>>
>>33499191
Because they're thinking of the future. If they have to make new assets every couple of generations/systems with a growing amount of Pokemon, it just means more and more work.
>>
>>33499220
Except Excadrill still uses smooth curved shapes so not really.

There's a reason Diglett has an extremely simple shape. You can't say the same about Excadrill.
>>
>>33499263
And Vanilluxe is two Vanillish stuck together but that's not why people hate it.

>smooth curved shapes
So does Victreebel. And the entire Oddish line. Farfetch'd too and that's one's based on an animal

>You can't say the same about Excadrill.
Yes you can- it has a streamlined shape because of the way it moves and attacks.
>>
>>33499314
>So does Victreebel.
Because it's a pitcher plant.

>And the entire Oddish line.
Because its design is focused around the flower growing on its head.

>Farfetch'd too
Because it's a joke Pokemon.

There's no reason for Excadrill to have smooth simplistic patterns except for the artists getting a worse style.
>>
but the new ones look better

>it's another genwar thread
The lack of USM news must be getting to /vp/.

Meet Unovan/Kalosian Charmander
>>
>>33499448
You didn't change much, Charmander already has an enormous head and eyes. Actually all the Kanto starters do, but it's less noticeable on Bulbasaur and more noticeable on Squirtle.
>>
>>33499400
To be fair, the individual plates are somewhat roundish

So are the ones of actual isopods, the reason it looks way rounder is because the end parts curve up instead downward like real isopods. I like that they based the eyes on actual isopods though.

Everything on the right is better. If you want to look at realistic animals just go outside you faggot. Pokemon is not meant to be realistic

You have never ever seen a mole in your life, have you? They have an incredibly streamlined shape. Even if you choose to ignore its attacking animation, this fact remains.

Have you? I didn't know moles had smooth curved feet and red curved patterns all over their body.

What makes you think Zubat has fur?
>>
>>33501213
why shouldnt it have fur? genwunners are fucking obsessed with following real-life counterparts as presented in the OP
>>
>>33501631
>why shouldnt it have fur?
Because it's a Zubat and not a bat.

>genwunners are fucking obsessed with following real-life counterparts
No. You're missing the point. The point is that the older Pokemon have believable and more realistic anatomy, not that they look closer to real life animals.
