Lurking taught me that shinies for Pokémon from Gens I to V were straight palette swaps with no oversight. It was only from Gen VI that GF coloured them with intent.

I wish they still did it that way. Shinies used to feel like a glitch, like all the sprite's RGB values got shifted by the same amount. New shinies like Toucannon and Mareanie are pretty, but they don't have the same feel of "oh shit is there something wrong with my game?"

It does, but not the original sprite coloring. I don't know why there are differences in the coloration between games and art. It's like someone made a change, forgot about it, and then when they shipped the game they shrugged and didn't give a shit.

Do you have Photoshop? you can use a palate swap on the gif to give it shiny colours without losing the animation. Open the gif in Photoshop, then go File > Save for web... and then play around with the colours there.

Registeel got greener over the years and I don't really like that. It was more blue in gen 3. Nothing against green shinies tho.
