Greece or Italy, both countries can easily go through all 4 seasons, and the Greco/Roman pantheon is probably the last one they have not touched yet that can introduce Legendaries for each season. I would have said Solstice and Equinox Legendaries, but even if it has to do with Spring/Fall and Summer/Winter, it falls way to close into Sun and Moon Territory for my liking. You know Equinox legend lengthening or shortening the night or Solstice legend vice versa, and yeah it falls too close to the SM ToD cycles. I mention this cause 4 Box Legendaries is ridiculous, having a hot cold duality is even sillier, but who knows. Maybe a Fate style deal, with a Greece game and an Italy Game, with the sequel games featuring the other two? I am ranting a bit, so TLDR;
Greece/Italy FE:Fates style Mega Generation, brings back seasons alongside Season Legendaries. Or perhaps not seasonal Pokemon, do some cool lore with the games and have two legendaries that draw on the power of the emmisary duo to change seasons.

Arguably an Italy or Greece region would both be more akin to Unova, in that they can have all 4 seasons in full force. Or Kalos if they go for the bullshit game overworld thing with no sense of ecology or what not, see my post above yours. Arguably Greece would be much closer to Hoenn in this regard, but on the opposite end. Yes Greece is this summer paradise to Tourists, but outside of those 3 or so months we have to deal with 9 humid cold months with nothing but snowcapped mountains surrounding us. Leave the coast, and Greece is very much a Sinnoh like place.
Which is why I want it to happen. If not the main legends, they can make like the Tapu and use the Horai for the background legends, and have the main trio be something irrelevant. At the very least I can see them sticking to their guns after Alola with being culturally appropriate in what they base the lore on(unlike fucking Unova with the Japanese demons), and I would think they would want to use the Dodecatheon in the actual locale and not somewhere random.
Back to the region, like I said, its perfect as a Winter Hoenn. Mainland could mostly be mountainous, with the coastal areas and the surroundings of Mt Olympus becoming flatter. The Islands wouldn't be tropical at all, except maybe Crete being a little more welcoming.

I didn't even realize I got quints. But if you read my post carefully, it doesn't just confirm an Italian region, it confirms that it would be based only on Northern or Southern Italy, to the immense butthurt of the Italian Pokémon community.

But, all memes aside, it isn't even unlikely that they would do this; remember Kalos doesn't include Occitania. And Unova and Alola are based on a single city and on a single state respectively, so they could meme further and make a region based only on Venice or only on Sicily or whatever else.

The issue is that the shape of the country basically mandates making it a corridor. Imagine making a region based on Chile, although not as extreme. I'm sketching maps right now, and you can get a more Kanto or Jothoesque region from the North; a terrone region would still suffer from a linearity problem, but nowhere as impactful. And Italy is an incredibly diverse country, so you run in the same issue as Kalos i.e. an overload of different themes and sceneries. Meanwhile a more cohesive landscape could be made if you focus only on the North or only on the South.
