>My experience was with my first ever shiny pokemon outside the red Gyarados. On route 44 I was fishing with my Super Rod (all pokemon hooked are level 40), and a shiny Poliwag appeared. Silly me only had ~5 ultra balls on me, and only near lvl 100 pokemon in my team. All attacks would have killed it. I threw all my pokeballs, but he got out of all of them, and I had to mercy kill it. I was really jelous of a friend who hooked a green Kingler while fishing at the daycare pond. Good times.

Although I just got back into Sun to finish it after dropping it for like 6 months and I know if I jump off to play Gold I'll stop playing it again and never finish it.

Blue was my first Pokémon but I never knew of Pokémon's existence prior to getting it. As such, Gold was the first game I was ever hyped for as a kid.

I still remember begging my mom to buy it for me and when we finally went to go get it, I was all but bouncing off the walls the whole car ride to and from the store. When we finally got home I ran as fast as I could to my room, clawed open the box, put it in the Gameboy and just sat on the floor playing it all night. Probably one of the (if not THE) happiest times playing Pokémon I can remember

Had a blast the first time i played through silver with totodile. Also loved the fact that i could transfer my bros from yellow back then. I think my favorite part was when lanve came and helped me beat team rocket with his dragonite. The best thing overall for when i was a kid was the whole kanto throwback and red battle at the very end. Best gen imho, and even though it has some problems, gen 4 remakes made up for the most of em. Also my retarded ass thought lugia would follow you around just like pikachu in yellow...

Exploring whirl islands for the first time and finding Lugia at the end and legitimately enjoying the box legend. Also hating the roaming trio

The only bad exclusive in my opinion for silver is the ladyba line. Gold's are mostly junk aside from Arcanine and Ursaring.

Assuming they'll just be $10 each, I'll get both. Gonna Nuzlocke one and complete the dex in the other.

One of my favorite things about Gen 2 is how rare certain new Pokemon were. A lot of people hate this, but I think it helped make the new Pokemon feel much more special, even if they actually sucked. I remember getting a Marill for the first time as a kid, and I loved it for being rare and cool, even if it was actually awful.

I injected Crystal onto my 3ds after I heard G/S were coming to the VC. Crystal is the gen 2 version with the most nostalgia attached to it for me. My fondest memory of it was it being the first game I got near 100% pokédex completion on. I was just missing Mew, Celebi and Quilfish. It's also tied with Gen 3 for introducing the most of my favourite Pokémon. Espeon, Umbreon, Crobat, Bayleef, Dunsparce, Heracross.

Pic related is my current Crystal team. I'm playing the rom hack Complex Crystal, which is solidly okay. It gets rid of all the trade evos, makes some evos better (Espeon and Umbreon are sun and moon stone evos), but it doesn't fix any of the poor move pools (Heracross's only fighting moves are rock smash and reversal) and the route level scaling is still kind of poor. I'm fighting trainers level 46-50 but the wild pokémon are only level 30.

Houndour has just been caught and is currently being trained.

As for my team, I usually try to use Pokemon I haven't used before. Although the annoying thing about GSC is that a lot of those Pokemon will be locked behind post-game (Houndoom, Magcargo, Octillery, etc.). So I will probably pick Cyndaquil (because I've already used the other obtainable fire-types) and make my team on the fly.

I have the gold and silver cartridges so I'll get gold since I enjoyed playing that one alot more. I already know which starter I'm picking Chikorita the rest will come to me. I normally like to use Pokemon from the gen but I might not this time around idk
