Also note that pokebeach site does not call this a expansion, like xy era, or sm era, just calls it a new set, meaning it could be another set inside the sun and moon expansion.

If they've started the investment of gen 8 only in June 2017, so most likely 2019. But if Masuda is working on this gen since 2015 and had the switch in hand since 2016, so gen 8 is in 2018.
