When did you last play the originals? I haven't played GSC since 2005 since the batteries on my Silver version died, and I don't do emulators. The remakes are great, even better than the originals, but there's just something about the originals and how they look and sound that get me pumped.

Even then, you can use the official VC emulators to run any ROM if you have a hacked system. There's even a version with the multiplayer patched to work with wireless just like the upcoming releases, and it's been out for more than a year:

RBY also had internal batteries that needed replacing, so FRLG would also be necessary remakes by that logic. Also RSE have an internal battery that is used for time-based events (berry growing, Shoal Cave, etc.). So ORAS would also be considered a necessary remake too.

GSC batteries run dry faster because they are not used ONLY to save, but to keep the fucking clock working.
If it wasn't for the clock, GSC save files would still be there for the majority of us.

Because GSC's batteries are constantly being used to power the real-time clock, so their charge ends up getting used a lot quicker. The battery in RBY cartridges will eventually run out, I've had to replace the battery in my copy of Red and Gold. The battery's also ran out for my copy of Sapphire although I never bothered replacing it since it just affects the clock and not the save functionality.

I just finished getting most of my Pokemon to level 50 in Red, so that I can trade them in later and do some shiny breeding. I hacked in a shiny ditto as well to trade over.

Breeding in GS is so infuriating that I don't think the 1/64 odds are even worth it.
Yeah there is no Magma Armor, but that's far from the biggest problem. Wait until you actually try to breed and you'll see what I mean.

Quick rundown:
>Day Care route isn't straight
>At the very end of the only linear path (which is small on the south side, and more on the north side later) there is a small patch of grass, entering you into wild battles if you let your character bike to the end
>This same path doesn't give you sight of the map square the day care man appears to signal an egg is ready, and there is a police NPC literally on the exact square he needs to be to block a path that would otherwise give you sight of the day care man. You basically have to take a detour off your clean path every time to see if the egg is ready, because of that one fucking NPC blocking you. Like everything else, this feels intentional.
>North side is Goldenrod City with a very long path that is in theory straight and without obstacles, except they placed 3 NPCs that WALK AROUND RANDOMLY HORIZONTALLY, meaning they'll constantly bump into you and block your passage at random. I can't express the rage this inspires.

You have to try it to truly understand the hell that gen 2 breeding is.

I'm curious how trading will work between R/B/Y and G/S. I was hoping I could just use the bank and quickly deposit them in, but no.

It'll take forever trading them all individually, also impossible since both games are on one 3DS.
