It's a pretty high tier Psychic type. Not as amazing as Mewtwo, Alakazam, Metagross, Slowking, Oranguru, Xatu and the likes, but still far better than trash Grumpig, Gothitelle, Sigilyph, Musharna, Girafarig, Delphox, Malamar and others.

Is quite interesting for a psychic mon, the fact that it has equal Atk and SpA and all. However, it is underwhelming, gf has had many chances to buff it and still nothing:
>Both offenses at 73, when it could sport at least base 103 SpA to make a better use of psychic STAB
>Best stat is SpD but nothing crazy, still 2HKOed by shadow ball, could use some more HP or Def
>Slow, when similar psychics are way faster, doesn't even get agility
>Abilities are mediocre at best, and could really use something like bad dreams to go with its lore
>No signature move that is a hypnosis clone with spore's accuracy to justify how terrible it is everywhere else
>No dream eater by level up

Then again I have never met anyone whose favorite mon is hypno, so maybe the lack of popularity is why they don't buff it? still should deserve a chance.
