Has anything been changed in this release mechanics wise? Wii U game felt incredibly unbalanced.Like attacks did way too much damage, and some characters like Braixen, Chandlure, and Suicune had movess that were way too easy to spam. If you got combo'd then it was basically all over.
Please tell me the Switch version is going to be better because the Wii U version is just frustrating to play.

Long range spam is basically a noob stomper and doesn't work well against people that know how to get around it. Of the three characters you listed, only Braixen is considered S tier while Suicune is A and Chandelure is B. Pretty much everyone is competitively viable except maybe Croagunk and that's only because of some RNG in its attacks. Also, there aren't any infiinite combos (Shadow Mewtwo had an infinite block string in the Wii U version but it was patched even there) so you can't lose to a single combo.
If you want to learn the mechanics of the game better without too much experimenting, there are some pretty good videos on YouTube.
