I can get amourshipping with Kalos being France pretty much, but yeah there are many others that just look like a very convoluted reasoning. Hardenshipping apparently is related to magma becoming solid when in contact with water, the innuendo is a bonus.

That's a problem in every fandom.
At the point where everyone was still desperately looking for shipping names, several fandoms had to share names.
It's not making it better when you realize that every ever so rare pair had to have a shipping name.
Pokemon is kinda a relic in that regard. Other fandoms nowadays don't force shipping names anymore
