Just my onion, but I wouldn't play Timer Ball over Evosoda. I much prefer the guarantee of one over the chance of two when there's also a chance of zero, and in general try to absolutely minimize the reliance on flips, especially in a deck as clunky as Greninja. Acerola also seems an odd choice when you're playing something that has to evolve two or three times all over again, you could just play a Max Potion for healing when you've got energy recovery with Starmie. Might also be worth trying to fit a third Rescue Stretcher in there, or even a Super Rod. With so many frogs more recovery is always nice, and the Super Rod could be handy if you have Staryu or Starmie prized.

Add a couple of Turtonator GX, consider a single Ho oh GX potentially, use Brooklet Hill, don't use Hoopa. Otherwise it's more or less the same as before, save the usual rotation moves, like ditching Vs Seeker and switching Lysandre for Guzma.

I've been getting this weird glitch recently where most of my tradable cards won't show up when I load into the game. My collection doesn't load completely either. Just try quitting out and logging in again, usually fixes it for me. I assumed it was just because I have a shit connection but maybe there's something more to it.

Those people are flipping to get more packs. As a general rule, NEVER buy from public trade unless you are desperate. Just list your own trade for a GRI. It's not too hard to pick up Volcanion EX for a single pack right now, he's valued somewhere between 1.5 and 2 packs.

pretty new to the game, want to make a greninja deck. Why do I often see talonflame on these decks but in no other archetype? It seems like a splashable effect. Could I replace it with something else like leles?

It can good in budget friendly decks, and ones built around single prize Pokemon that require a lot of setup, like Greninja. Typhlosion is another example of a deck where it works well. In other decks, you're generally better off running Lele, or another setup Pokemon like Alolan Vulpix that won't be dead weight if you don't have it in your starting hand like Talonflame. Personally, I don't like Talonflame in decks that are trying to be competitive, it's too much of a liability being almost a tenth of your entire deck and potentially being nothing more than four dead cards. Just look at Cody Walinski at Worlds last year. For Greninja in particular, I'd choose to use Brooklet Hill and Evosodas and maybe Timer Balls over Talonflame.

Maybe I should just be mulliganning more, but starting with a talon and no cynd is formula for loss, it's attack doesn't fix that.

I need a cyndaquil on my bench by the end of turn 1, and a typhlosion and a rare candy in my hand by turn 2.
Additional balls increase odds of having them by then.

Just started playing. Friend who plays physical gave me a bunch of his codes. Opened up a few and tried to build something. Is this a good start to a half decent deck?
I have about 60 Guardians Rising because I was told not to open them. What are my priorities for trades?

Got a question for anyone who might know.

I am kind of tired of PTCGO and would like to sell my account. My collection contains basically FAs of every current meta standard card in a playset, including trainers. 4 FA gard, 4 FA Ns, 4 FA ect. Or at the least the optimal number to have like 1 FA Bridget. The collection also has a playset of all viable standard cards like baby Golisopod, promo KoKo, ect.

What would be the best way to sell my collection? Also what would be the best way to price the entire thing? I was thinking on doing a bunch of math comparing the 40 cent card code price to the total number of packs my collection is worth then lowering the price of that number 40% or so to get a sell.

Any ideas or suggestions?

First don't open packs if you don't even have a playable deck. 2nd, focus on what kind of deck you want to make. Psychic? espeon/garb. Grass? Tapu bulu GX or Golisopod GX. Fire? Volcanion ex with some/any combination of baby volcanion/turtonator GX/ Ho-oh gx/Salazzle GX.
Now volcanion ex is 1 Guardians for the promo or regular art. Make your own public trade, then play the waiting game. when you make trades do small offers, like 1 guardians for 1 volcanion ex. if you do 3 guardians for 3 volcanion your chances of success go down severely since many players have 1 volcanion, but many dont have more than 1. Now you will see many decks use Tapu Lele GX, this card is expensive, you can pick it up for 25 Guardians Rising occasionally. The focus of 4 ultra ball, 2 Tapu lele and 2 Kiawe is to charge up your fire pokemon turn 1, then start sweeping on your next turn. The volcanion deck doesnt need tapu lele if you want to play budget, but eventually you want to get 2 at least for all other decks.

You can also use pikachu packs in the game shop which are 55 tokens, trade them for trainers like. 1 pika for 2 N.1 pika for 2 choice band. 1 pika for 2 fury belt. trade for the newest sets, non foil versions. Other than that you are off to a solid start, you can get tapu lele gx and build most standard decks.

You are at mercy of the buyer. best thing would be to sell in person to a close friend. You can get more value, and not worry about the buyer trying to rat you out. Next would be to convert all your cards into packs like Guardians Rising. Serious buyers just want packs and packs are the easiest way to get rid of shit. Then try to sell the packs. Again value is at the mercy of the buyer. Always the risk of getting insta-banned too.

I know for a fact the bots in the game use proxies and VPNs and are also pack sellers, since I have been solicited by them and friends said the same thing. Pack sellers always get caught. So while small chunk sales seem profitable, each transaction makes it easier to ban you. Overall I say keep your account you might want to play a game or 2 in a couple years.

In short its all about percentages. The more basics you run the less chances you will start talonflame. If you dont start talonflame, that is potentially 4 deadcards that you cant do anything with except discard. Those could be more consistency cards like supporters.
In the Greninja Deck, Talonflame has 130 HP so its a big body giving you an extra turn or 2 versus 1 babby froakie with its 60 hp. With choice band it swings for 70 and searches any 2 cards. It has free retreat so you can evolve into frogadier and then duplicate immediately. Greninja is a very slow set up deck. Ideally you focus on Frogadier to bench your other 3 frogadier so you dont need 4 froakie. The deck also doesnt want 2 prize liabilities because it is so damn slow, and once set up most decks cant keep up if you take multiple GXs/EXs with water shuriken spam. So you run 2-3 froakie, and maybe 1 starmie line. But you dont want to mulligan forever too. Giving your opponent free cards is going to fuck you over, especially if they are playing garbotoxin you give them more draws to set up perfectly. But you dont want to play shitty basics that dont help your deck or eat up too much bench space. Even worse imagine starting with shaymin ex or tapue lele gx, you wont get the effect and its a 2 prize liability while setting up. Talonflame attempts to solve this issue. It only gives 1 prize. You have about 40% chance of opening talonflame if you play 4, this is not counting mulligans.and you play maybe 4 other basic starters in greninja so its a good fit. Typholosion is another deck that can use talonflame as well.

If cards to flip, try diversifying. Don't just do 1 card, instead of like, 3 garbodor, do 1 garb, 1 talonflame, 1 mew.
If you need them for a deck, you might be asking too many copies per pack.

Most trades get accepted within the final hour in my experience. That is the prime advertisement spot you want to be in. Next, there could be 1000 other players making the same exact trade you are at this moment. What edge do you have versus them in that scenario? Especially the spammers who make so many trades they have more chance of being accepted than your trade. This why you want to diversify your flips and token usage and generally find something that works for you even if its a small flip to keep it relatively unknown. I help with advice on flips but revealing my best flips is a not going to happen. So you have to evolve, what decks are topping? What cards they use? This is hard because if you just follow the trend you are early and make nice profit but eventually every other players will catch on quickly like dark patch/trevenant market. Pika packs shouldnt be your sole flipping tactic, once you get packs start flipping octillery abyssal hand. buy for 1 or 2 sell for 3-4. its a heavy market but it works for me.

Now as >>33489492 mentioned you might be asking for too much in value or too many cards. Unless you tell us what the specific trade is we can only guess and not accurately help you.

Finally some days are fucking slow, weekends are the best time to spend your tokens and time trading as thats when all the kids who dont know shit about value accept trades. I dont have any 100% accurate trades unless I am losing value, your offers will take a while or even fail. either way you should be putting up enough trade offers that you make steady packs.

If you want to try an advanced flip do this: buy metagross gx reg for 2 packs or metagross gx fa for 3 packs.Next for 1 pika pack pick up 20 beldums. then 1 pika for 20 metang. finally 1 pika for 20 alolan vulpix. all non foil versions.

Next trade 4 metagross gx Reg art - 4 metang - 4 beldum - 2 vulpix for: 1 Gard FA GX OR Reg, sell Gard for 13 GRI ~5 pack profit . Or make a gard gx deck.

If you have 4 metagross gx FA lines, try to trade for Guzma FA like this: 4 Metagross lines + 2 vulpix, 1 necrozma reg (buy for 2 packs). looking at about 6-8 profit depending how cheap you can pick up metagross FA and how high guzma can be sold since guzma is selling like shit right now, about 22 on average.


Now you can trade even further if you got Gard GX: 3 Gard GX reg, 1 gallade from breakthrough(1 pika or 1 chest) 3 kirlia, 4 ralts, 2 vulpix: ask for 1 Tapu Lele GX FA sell for 30+ GRI. 6 Pack profit with metagross reg line > Gard GX reg line > Tapu lele GX FA.

With 3 Gard GX FA lines you can possibly get Hyper Rare Lele GX try to sell for 45 but those sell like shit to be honest.

If you ask for older cards (dark rai FA dex, Plasma Freeze MaxPotion etc) these kind of offers fail. Reason why this works is people are pulling gards gx or metagross or tapu lele gx like crazy. but they dont have the patience to build a deck around it, OR flip into something bigger. Likewise trading deck cores of any pokemon deck can get you some amazing trade results, not much more to be said for this its the wild west in terms of what can or wont work, i barely scratched the surface of its potential. Why trade upward like this if packs are better?
example trading 2 packs for 1 metagross gx is common, but its tough trying to sell for 4 packs because everyone is doing the same exact shit. instead doing a metagross gx core you can get higher value cards, then sell that higher value card undercutting everyone at profit or trade up even higher into tapu lele gx or something.

It's honestly a pretty meh set from a competitive play perspective. Warp Energy and Raichu-GX are the two major cards, Venusaur will have some niche usage but won't be truly good with FOGP being banned.

The Electric deck is the best out of the three, IMO. The Raichu, Zapdos, and Kangaskhans are good if you can power them up, as is Fearow. You're going to have games where the shuffling fucks you, it's just how PTCGO plays. If you don't think you can win a match in the Trainer Challenge, just concede and try again.
A lot of my challenges were won by getting amazing opening hands while my opponent got nothing.

ive been trading night march 4-4-4 lines for like 8 GRI packs earlier this morning. only paid like 1.5 for the whole line with my trash .5 packs. Golem continues to underwhelm. Gyarados coukd be good though, 240HP stage 1 with a good weakness. One shots Garde. He technically has a point, the coins have a bad tendency of landing tails due to weight issues. Dice don't have that and tournament have rules that prevent more shady players from cheating with dice.

I personally just use dice because it is faster and less clunky but my opinion on coins is that there isn't a perfect coin. The tcg ones are sliiiiiiiighty weighted on the tails side and actual currency is even more of a no-no. I know this sounds like autism because it is but randomness isn't exclusive to ptcg but you're making a mountain out of a diglett hill. If even the Pokemon TCG products are aware of this issue by including a rounded edge translucent die in their elite trainer boxes(that GX counter is nice too) then it must have been enough of a demand.

That's not my problem mine is showing up with a deck that I invested 200 dollars (Garde GX w/ 2 Leles) in a deck only to be facing kids with glorified structure decks. I feel bad having to think about throwing matches to kids or worse being an accidental bully by outright 6-0ing them. It's not fun and I try to give advice but you know how kids are. The reason the Lunala deck is recommended is because it's good for completing the Trainer Challenges and for Theme VS ladder. Outside PTCGO it's pretty much worthless. All of the theme decks are. Instead, spend your money buying staples for a deck that you like or build a collection and go from there.

I've already tried it, it's incredibly clunky. Mewtwo doesn't do enough damage per energy to really justify his costs and baby Lunala is hard to get out reliably when you also need a Lunala GX on your bench. Since it -has- to be psychic energies you can't really run DCE and Max Elixirs only do so much. It's just missing that last little push to actually be decent and any form of psychic acceleration, whether it be a patch or something to put them from your deck onto your pokemon, would be what it needs to actually be acceptable.

what thoughts on pairing Noivern-GX with Trevenant Break? No DDE any more hurts of course, but other than that, they seem like good partners in crime with shared spread attacks and item denial/hit for items.

Volcanion is still good. A turn one Kiawe to any big hitter can put serious pressure on your opponent and can take some easy prizes. A single Volcanion-EX lets Ho-Oh-GX swing for 210, which is perfect for taking out Alolan Ninetales-GX, other Ho-Oh, etc.

Alolan Golem actually seems decent with Electrode and Counter Catcher. You can power one up in a single turn, lock with the GX attack, preferably using catcher to kill something on the bench, then kill with its 200 damage attack, then Acerola the Golem, use the same Electrode and DCE you picked up on a new one, and keep swinging.

Gyarados memeing with Shining Celebi and Flail sounds fun too.

So they just swap around based on whatever you've got up front.
The only thing that gets through are basic non-e/gx, which there are very few that can stand their own / take out those mon.

Get those Wishiwashi out of your deck literally right this instant. Replace them with a 1-1 line of Staryu BKP/Starmie EVO or Remoraid/Octillery. Nest Balls seem like overkill and can't trigger Lele's ability. Replace them with another Ultra Ball and a Switch (you'd be surprised how useful just one can be). They're gimmick packs with a common, uncommon, and either a common, reverse holo, or rare or above. Normally a box of them may only have 1-3 ultra rares at all in like 50 packs, but they can be weighed, making them by far the most profitable packs to buy if you have a scale. Last time I went they had Flashfire and I got both Zard Y's out of 10 packs.

Looking to get into the tcg, started playing online to test the waters. Followed the links, got my packs, been grinding ladder for reward cards, etc. Have a few questions:

Game seems very snowball oriented. It's almost impossible to come back after having a big poke knocked out. Is this just the nature of theme decks or is constructed like this too?

Is it possible to build a competitive deck on a budget? (around $100)

The rotation of cards isn't well explained though I might just be dumb. There are cards that are reprinted in new sets like items and supporters that don't rotate out often yes?

Is there a date for rotation or is it dependent on the release date of new sets?

Having a big attacker knocked out early can be rough, but in the late game, having a set up bench, it's not too much of a big deal, especially if you're ahead on prizes.

Yes, Greninja and Passimian/Mew are budget decks that use no Leles and are therefore cheaper. You can still make competetive decks without Lele, but Lele makes the decks more consistent, that's why it's so expensive

Yep. When a card is reprinted you can also use older versions of the card even if the set it is from is not in standard, if that makes sense. Take Rare Candy or N for instance.

From what I understand the rotation happens not long after every Pokemon World Championships.

N and in November, Counter Catcher are the big comeback cards. Can't count the number of times I've nearly been wiped then dropped an N to put the opponent to 1 card. There are counters to N like Oranguru and Octillery but there's a reason it's 3-4 of in every deck.

Tapu Lele is required for a real competitive deck, $120 on Leles and $50ish for the rest of the deck is normal. Once you have the Leles though, each successive deck is well under $100.

Legality is done by set. When a card is reprinted in a set its legality is based on most recent print unless that print is an explicitly labeled 'alt-art' print with the same set symbol as the last legal card as was done with a lot of the recent pseudo-promos.

Promotional cards rotate as well, mostly based on the order of their release. They usually rotate out around the same time as the set nearest to their release. Some promos get reprinted and get a new promo number though.

Rotation always happens after world championships.

Heard bus are losing buying power, so that may be part of your problem too. I just finished converting all mine to card or GRI. Mostly FA metagross, 3 packs seems to be the highest you can flip up to before people start getting savvy about equivalent worth. I can't hit 4s like SR A-Nine for the life of me.

If it's more about strategy with specific cards, imma tell you now, Marshadow is best used in toolbox, not mono-fighting.

It's built in attack is a worse Lycanroc, and it's GX specifies basic energy and because it only looks at itself is a worse version of a lot of attacks.
However, it can steal the attack of anything in your discard, so long as it can pay the cost. A good way to convert a good attack to Fighting damage for coverage.
