But seriously, ever since the split in gen 4, I've been drawn to moves like Psycho Cut and Zen Headbutt. Just the existence of Psychical Psychic attackers gives this kind of mind/body working in tandem vibe, like a refinement of both that results in a sum greater than its parts. Special Fighting type moves are kind of like that too, but more than anything that just brings to mind some kind of DBZ ki thing, it's a bit overdone

Arcanine because they're brave, strong and loyal. Plus they can run fast. Also its a Krypto reference.

Volcarona because, in it's PokeDex entry it's stated that it it once replaced the sun, which is a reference to what Superman did at the end of All-Star Superman. One of the best and well-known Superman stories. And other entries state how it's the embodiment of the sun, and Clark is the viewed the same in a metaphorical and sometimes literal way in his universe.

In case it needs explaining the weird plants theme is because- Tangrowth is just a mass of vines, Vileplume/Rafflesia's are known for terrible smell, Carnivine/Fly traps eat insects, Abomasnow/Evergreen doesn't lose its leaves in the winter, Ferrothorn/Durians are heavy fruits with spikes that smell terribly, and Dhelmise is algae possessing an anchor.
