Even if OP is baiting or just dropped the game half-way through, I do want to say that I think Gladion has got to be one of the best written characters in a while.

I was actually convinced for most of the game that he was just this rival edgelord. Then you see how much he really cares about the pokemon and Sylvally, especially considering Type:Null only evolves at max friendship.

I was really impressed with all the characters, frankley. And I nearly lost my shit when it turned out Lusamine was just straight up fucking crazy without trying to give her some hand-fisted philosophy. I was just... so fucking happy. They really made her insanity believable too. The way her logic is all warped, and how backhanded she is- I was just really impressed. I can't reiterate it enough. That's not even mentioning how much autonomous personality everyone else had. They really knocked it out of the park. Lillie leaving, Hau crying- it was great.

Well it's not my fault the last 2 generations have had nothing but caricatures of characters. They add nothing to experiance of the game, and it really pisses me off how little effort they put into pokemon's story. To the point where I couldn't give a rat's hairy ass about any character, or their plight. They're all 1 or 2 note characters.
