It's not a remake of Crystal because the plot follows box legends that aren't Suicine and because the little Suicine sidequest is inspired by Crystal but not necessarily from it. It's more of a nod to the game, like ORAS' shitty delta episode being a nod to birth island and Emerald's Fug cutscene.
