Pretty much the same opinion I have. I think all three are just trying too hard and leave little to the imagination for players to project a character onto when their designs already feel geared to a specific idea (tiger is a heel wrestler; seal is a performer; owl is an archer).

Primarina is one of my favorite starters. I don't like the other two, but I don't think they are nowhere near as bad as /vp/ say they are. I just wish they weren't brought up all the fucking time (and this goes for falseflaggers, haters and the fans themselves), especially in threads that have nothing to do with them.

For me its similiar. 5/10 for all of them. Their concepts are great but they're to humanoid which makes them feel so fucking mediocre. I also hate how mediocre they are in competitive. Like Incineroar is Arcanine but simply worse, Decidueye does have a unique niche but simply can't hold up to others in UU and even if it drops to RU it'll go with Tsareena which is simply the better grass type and Primarina, while good in UU, is still fucking wet paper in terms of physical defense.

Holy shit this. On the first day of the reveal, Litten was shown to have its hair rise up (normal trait for cats when they're anxious/pissed) whenever it spat fire balls made of /oil/. So many opportunities to expand that particular trait that Litten had, and it was fucking lost upon its evolutions.

I dare say the tiger and seal are less bad and more controversial design-wise compared to the owl (and I say controversial becaus despite everything they still have fans, but maybe's because people's weird like that???).

Other reason they're not as popular is because competitive wise they're mostly underwhelming. For example, the owl's so meh in-game that a buddy of mine outright ditched it once it evolved due to dying to the everything.

Greninja was slightly polarizing in the first week of his leak, but became arguably the most popular water starter, and one of the most popular starters overall after official reveal to compensate, Decidueye by comparison was constantly liked during his entire lifespan, he might not have reached Greninja-levels of popularity, but he's also arguably one of the most popular Grass starters and Got into Pokken.

Delphox was also polarizing because so many more people wanted to fug its pre-evo but it still had lots of popularity among people that wanted to fug it. I guess you could say Primarina was an inverted Delphox, with more people wanting to fug the final stage than the mid-stage, making it quite popular overall.
