Kanto is not a great region and even after its remake back in early 2004 there's still tons of room for improvement. With the Switch's hardware GF could really go far. How do they fix it? What changes do you have in mind?

It was great for it's time maybe very linear at the start but it had actual dungeons and long roads but also extremely short roads.

Environmental Improvements:Well obviously newer console can do this better so I don't get the point of this question, maybe seasons can comeback?

Expanded Pokedex? Of course only shit games limit their Regional dex to 150-156, New evos for Kanto mons are a must.

New landmarks:New city above celadon based on the glitch city,Haunted radio tower with wild rotoms,a cave on route 7 to give a purpose,new starting town northwest of cerulean or a whole new part of kanto northwest of cerulean and obviously expand all the existing areas.

Story:Would rather have a sequel than a remake so we don't have to deal with more timelines bullshit

Well, I think it would be cool to turn Celadon City into Pokémon Las Vegas. Fancy neon light everywhere, expensive hotels with a job sidequest like in Lumiose, different and more lively music playing at night, as well as increased NPC activity during that time. Make other entertainment facilities. Give the Game Corner a traditional casino aesthetic but turn it into a "safe" minigame collection like the Pokéathlon, played on arcade machines.

Cinnabar Island should be expanded to be the size of Melemele. Give it a proper city with a port and everything, add some jungle with wild Pokémon, and an actual volcano.

They should also make Birth of Mewtwo canon by turning it into a postgame sidequest a la Looker Quest. Except this time you player, after becoming champion, is hired by Mr. Fuji to join his team on an expedition to Faraway Island to search for Mew DNA. The island should be a *huge* dungeon, themed around tropical jungle untouched by human hands where you can find Mewnium Z, Mewtwonite Y, totem battles with Pokémon like Tangrowth and Exeggutor, and of course a strand of fossilized Mew DNA at the end which you give to Mr. Fuji so he can begin creating Mewtwo.

I think other people are tired of the mega cities some of the newer games do, but I would like to urbanize the mid-game area to give Kanto more flavour. Basically, take Saffron City and the four cities/towns adjacent to it, Cerulean, Vermilion, Celadon, and Lavender, and make them all part of one big metropolis that covers the entirety of central Kanto. You can still keep the original names as districts or whatever, or still call them separate cities but have the design connect them as an urban core.

The four routes connecting the five of them are all very short as is, but I'm not suggesting removing them. Although it would all be one big city, I would still want the same or similar blockades in place, the same progression, and the equivalent of "routes" between them, with trainers and wild encounters. The route between Saffron and Vermilion for example strikes me as something that could be turned into a park within the city.

Also expanding each of them in size and theme, like >>33447466 suggests with making Celadon more neon. I also agree about making Cinnabar a much bigger island. I hesitate to say just make everything bigger, but some places need it. I would still like Pallet, Viridian, and Pewter to be kind of dinky compared to the super city, each getting a bit bigger as you move toward the center of the region.

Start with the 251 mon from Kanto and Johto, add all their pre-evolutions and Evolutions that got added later into one super Kanto dex.

Increase the length of routes around Saffron. Place a new seaside town between Fuchsia and Lavender.

Expand all caves for revisit material

If its a remake then add characters linked to Johto and Kanto. Archer and Arianna replacing Jessie and James battles would be cool. Will as a trainer in Sabrinas gym etc

I'm kind of a sucker for directly linking the Rocket and Mewtwo plots through the silph co takeover.

Some suggestions, if there should ever be a new Kanto game:

>story plays a year after SM
>add Johto AND a new region
>less cutscenes and forced story dialogue, go back to how it was in Gen4 and 5
>make slight changed to Kanto and Johto, like some new buildings and new stuff on existing routes
>make the volcano on Cinnabar Island actually be visible (and accessable, put a cave in there or something)

>Lillie appears at MT. Silver instead of Red
>She doesnt talk MUCH and thats her only appearance
>you can choose in which region the story starts

I just dont know what to do about being overleveled when reaching the third region.
Maybe there could be some kind of border partrol between them that takes away your Pokemon, Items and access to the PC until you beat the league there.

Of course this will never happen, it would be basically 2 games in one.

I found the very left map on google, it had different colors and wasnt connected to Johto at all though, so i edited them all together.

I dont really have more ideas, i just wish the games would be less story driven and focus more on adventure and exploration.
One way i can think of to make this possible is
>before getting access to a gym, you have to visit a certain area/cave/forest/whatever and find a special item there, which is hidden and locked behind some puzzles
>finding and bringing this item to the gym alone isnt enough to give you the badge, you still have to beat your way through to the gym leader

I have an underground / underwater map that I currently lack access to. The biggest thing about it is a town, Shadow Town, where the Villainous Team resides. You enter it through the Pokemon Catacombs and need it to access Saffron's Sewers to get to Saffron University after a lockdown.

This map is obsolete anyways, but it still contains most of my major ideas.

I like Obsidian as a name, it sounds ominous, but I still like Shadow Town better. It's not an officially-recognized city, but rather a collection of criminals, outcasts, and destitutes that banded together and cobbled together a settlement underground in the sewers under Saffron, where order is only maintained by the iron fist of the villainous team. It doesn't even have normal shops or a Pokemon center.

It's not a normal town. It shouldn't abide by normal naming conventions.
