It's a shame Lana doesn't have a Dewpider/Araquanid in the anime. It would be a neat gag to see Misty having conflicted feelings over its Water/Bug typing.

Why isn't the ground type Marowak bring electrocuted too? Ground types were able to be hurt by electric in the anime before. The best example being Brock's Onix being hurt by Ash's Pikachu in the gym battle, resulting in Ash 'winning' the badge because that was the only way the writers could think of for him to get the damn badge. Kinda like the only way they could think for him to 'earn' other badges in gen 1 were by

Having Pikachu stand on it's tail so that Raichu's thunderbolt would somehow not hit
Rescue the gym leader's Gloom from the gym burning down
